What is the pipe that exits the rear of the driver's helmets in the car ?

Do they have a breathing system ?

 

pretty sure its just air flow..one of the ports on one of the windows just force feeds air to circulate. I know some drivers have cooling systems IIRC.

 

Forces fresh air into the helmet ?

 

I belive so yes..if not then it goes to a cooler system then into the helmet...but im pretty sure the pickup is one of the little window air pickups.

What happens in case of a fire up front while the car is running ?

 

I think they just shut it down and then people come out with extinguishers

I meant , if the system catches air and forces it into the helmet , isn't there a risk of forcing smoke into the helmet in the event of a fire up front while the car is running ?

 

Well I guess but I think as soon as a fire starts they take the hose out of their helmet

 

If im not mistaken the air hose for the helmet pulls from the side of the car..so it would prob be difficult for it to "dump" smoke into the helmet.

im lookin into the cooling systems now...pretty sure they are independent systems

 

Yeah it pulls from the side. Through the window. I don't think it's an actual cooling system, just fresh air
