Ya it certainly isn't "your dads" nascar anymore. I think Nascar though knows Kyle and Smoke;s short tempers increase nascar popularity. Heck some of these races are less exciting than golf.

Regardless of them making it "more popular" when you do like Kyle did there during a CAUTION, he could have killed Hornish. THAT should never be acceptable.

Pretty decent racing yesterday, I just wish they would make these cars less aero dependent so the racing would be better across the board, remove side skirts spoilers or something, I understand it's more cost efficient to run these cars aero but the racing suffers. Also I wish they would change the schedule to start and end in Daytona, I would love the chase to finish like that. Maybe add a road course in the chase too. Looks like Jimmie has his six pack wrapped up barring any misfortune.

Yep, wasn't a bad race overall. I disagree with making them less aerodynamic. Part of the need to have them so is the safety factor. Less aero means less grip. Less grip means easier to get into accidents. I know that wrecks make things interesting, but I cringe at every wreck because it means that someone could get hurt, or worse. I like to see a good race, but I don't like to see ANY driver, even the ones I dislike the most, have a risk of injury.

As for the finish, we already have 2 big races in Daytona. A third would unbalance the other tracks. On average they race twice each season at each track. It was not that long ago that the finale was in Atlanta. They moved it to Homestead when the Chase got enacted.

Yes making them less aero would bring a less safer sport, but that has always been the appeal to racing these cars and draws interest because it is dangerous. I bet if you asked these drivers, the majority would take less safety over better racing anyday.
Oh and I should've clarified, moving the 2nd Daytona race to the final chase race, not having 3 races there!

Hate all you want but his record speaks volumes. He will be in the Hall of Fame and he may come close to most championships

Yea since 2001 Jimmie has an average finish of 13.1 at road courses (doesn't lead a lot but has good finishes) His worst average finish is actually at restrictor plate races where he has amassed a 17.2 average since 2001.

exactly. in other words, i dont think one (or even 2) road races in the chase would hurt him

I disagree. Most drivers actually have voiced their opinion for a safe car. Yes they want speed, but they know the dangers as well. These guys have families, and do not have any interest in leaving them.

As for moving the 2nd race, you have to look at it from a financial aspect. Daytona has a HUGE income base for the July race. It actually pulls in huge vendor money. Also the track ins not just used for the two races each year. There are events and other sports races there off and on throughout the entire year. Plus testing. It's not as simple as just changing dates on a calendar.

I think I'm going to go with the easy pick for the win in Homestead, Carl Edwards. Jimmie will have a top ten, and I think Kenseth will too. I'd love to see Brad win. My top 5: Edwards, Gordon, Biffle, Harvick, Hamlin

I know that there is a lot involved with changing dates at Nascar tracks as most tracks do source other income to keep things going throughout the year, I just simply want Nascar to reinvigorate the Chase tracks as it has basically been the same since inception. NASCAR won't change it drastically because of fore mentioned things and fans do need familiarity with dates. I can guarantee that in 2015, changes will be made to the schedule because TV partners Fox and NBC are picking up contracts starting then and will want to start there broadcasting off with a bang. There have been talks of moving the Brickyard 500 to start the chase, as well as moving Sonoma in the Chase, Nascar needs a big event like Daytona or Indianapolis in their chase format and I think They will in 2015.

I can see wanting to change up things in the chase, but I don't think you will ever find the finale at Daytona. We already have one super speedway race in the chase. No need for 2. I agree a road course would be nice.
