Yea Daytona won't end the chase, but I wish it did. There were talks of moving the finale to Las Vegas, just switching the dates with Homestead, I see that as more of a possibility. Who you got for the W this weekend?

just from 2010 to now (8 races), he has one finish outside the top 10. i dont think a road course would hurt his chances during the chase.

i think itd be cool for the finale to be at charlotte. basically home of nascar, most drivers hometown, and fairly local to me lol. but that would put a lot of races at charlotte.

I miss when the cars were actually closer to "stock" cars. I hate the fact that every car is the same. NASCAR has sucked for a long time now.

Yea, well this is a product of a lot things. The good ol boys are no longer with us, we don't get all the best drivers because they don't fit a certain image due to corporate sponsorship and advertising and it cost too much to get into a car now a days it's just not realistic for most. If nascar would've been in the 80s what it is today there would be no Earnhardt because it is too expensive and he didn't fit a corporate image.

I would also like to say on my rant that NASCARs point system needs to be focused more on leading laps, passing the leader, and leading at the 100 mile marks to push more aggressive driving because I sure as hell don't pay to watch overall points racing, I want to see a great battle to the finish.

I know some may not agree, but that's the truth.
There are a lot of things NASCAR needs to do to get back to its roots.

Yea, they should get rid of the Chase and go back to points like they used to, in my opinion. I hate the chase. Give more points for wins and laps led. Make stuff more aggressive. This ridin around in a line stuff is stupid.

I don't really "hate" the chase itself. Nascar tried to improve things so that we wouldn't have a lot of what was going on BEFORE they enacted the chase: Drivers that would take off 3/4 of the way through with nobody being able to catch them. While I don't like the way it works right now, they did TRY to improve things.
What really sucks right now is that money drives the sport now, more than the fans. It has moved from its roots to a more "level" playing ground, to use that term loosely. I miss the days of the 70s and 80s, and even the early 90s. But we will never see that again.

As for who will win the race itself in Homestead, I have to say Dale Jr has really improved himself this season. I think he has a shot at it. The banking is pretty shallow though. I think the drivers who have come from dirt tracks have the best chance.

Enjoy! I kinda like Homestead because of the low, 4 degree banking. Makes it drive more like a dirt track! I was there at the first Cup race in 1999!

The only thing that sucks about the last race, is if the driver that wins the race is not the same driver who wins the championship, they get overshadowed. All the press is on the championship winner. I think they should show some respect to the driver than wins for a while, and then congratulate the champ.

I agree with this. Especially if it is a first win or a win after a long drought.

Myself , I don't like the chase. Someone is consistant and builds a lead only to have it all be taken away 10 races before the end. Kinda like someone building a nice lead and then a yellow flag brings them all close then the second place guy punts the leader into the wall. Especially don't like the censorship in NASCAR. Big brother is watching u 24/7. Something happens that has nothing to do with racing and NASCAR is " looking into it."

I see your point, but then look at it from another standpoint. If 10 races before the end or even 5 before the end of the season one driver has such a lead that NOBODY can have a chance to catch him, A lot of people will stop watching because they already know who will win the championship. Sponsorship money drives things, and today drivers and teams are already having trouble finding consistent sponsors. Just 15 years ago you didn't see a driver who did not have a full-ride for a season. Now you have switches in the middle of the season, and multiple major sponsors now.

    Simply

Something happens in a family situation.
Something is said, something is done.
    Etc.
Not going to try and type specifics. But having to watch your every move and everything you say away from the track is welllllllllllll CRAP.....

Well how a driver or player represents themselves off the track is part of sport. Players in football are disciplined for off the field incidences every week, why would it be different in nascar? Also, nascar isn't going to allow their drivers to publicly bad mouth the cars or the current state of the sport without discipline because the drivers can display their feelings face to face with the prez or in the drivers meetings. Just this week Ed Reed was released from the Texans for a post game comment stating they were out coached, disciplined for publicly lashing their program. It's like that because nascar has sponsors that want to be represented in a good manner and for the integrity of the sport.

That's the problem. Way to much money so you have to be a robot. Like I said. 24/7 is way to much of a price to to pay IMO. NASCAR and I would never get along. Someone as me a question. I'll give them a honest answer. If the car is crap I would say it. If the car was good I'd say it. If it was personal I'd tell NASCAR or anyone else it's non of your business.
Maybe people should just start saying " I can't tell you how I feel cause ill be in trouble" for every question they are asked. Seems like that's what it's turning out to be.

Yep I agree, sponsors and money have turned nascar away from what made it special and interesting. Gone are the blue collar drivers with no care, now we have the likes of drivers like kasey kahne who say everything right and avoid any confrontation possible, there a a couple that will walk the line. Since Earnhardt died, the sport changed because no one was left like that. If nascar doesn't make some serious changes over the next 5 years, the sport will begin to die even more, I can't see any positives in the way it's going now.

When you get away from the roots and the "blue collar" to me it takes the sport and changes it into something like horse polo. Kinda ritsey and more for the more affluent. Walking proper, talking proper, dressing proper. But if they look in the stands and in the parking lots it's the good ol boys and girls that drive 10 hours after a long week of backbreaking work or save all year to see a little action and let off a little steam. Behind the catch fence is a whole different country. And it's a shame it's like that.
