Almost looking like she took her foot out of it when the spotters were calling the crash behind them

I thought Jr might jump up there too

Even if they did offer a V8, I doubt you would be driving it at 9000 RPM...lol

She probably did, she anticipated the caution. Should have kept her foot in it!

Good for Danica, she proved she can run with the big dogs, too bad tony got wrecked, she could have had a top three finish. Top ten is a respectable finish for sure, she drove great, the crew did great, other than spinning the tires too much out of the pit box she was perfect.

I thought her spotter called caution. I also thought NASCAR would throw the yellow immediately.

I generally dislike NASCAR, but watched the whole thing just to see Danica drive. She did well, except for the guy who appeared to block her at the end, but I don't really understand that style of racing.

Saw the 50 cent thing as well. Fuckwad didn't even remove his hat for the prayer. Too fucking dumb to put it on straight anyways.

The race announcers were calling caution, then they realized that NASCAR wasn't going to because the track was clear. I bet some spotters could have reacted like that too.

It was a pretty good race. Having Stewart & Harvick caught up in that early crash sucked. After the way they ran in the Unlimited, I expected strong runs from both of them. Glad Junior made it thru unscathed & finished 2nd. Good to see Danica run strong all day too.

Yeah, I am sure that Hendrick was quite happy with a 1-2 finish of his 4 cars. One hting I am not understanding is the points system. I had thought that you got either 2 or 3 points for leading the race at any single point of the race. If that is true, then Danica should have more than just 37 points, and being only 2 points ahead of Michael McDowell, who never lead a lap? Am I missing something? My calculations show she should have either 39, or 40 points, which should put her in either 5th or 6th place. Obviously something is different in the way they do points now. Anyone know?

Leading a lap is worth only 1 bonus point, that's what is was worth last year. And leading the most laps was another bonus point.

My buddy Kyle Busch took them out along with Kasey Kahne . I guess Kyle blowing up his engine later in the race was just karma...

I knew there had to have been a change in the past 2 or 3 years. Last year I gave up trying to keep up with who had how many points for what and just kept an eye on the standings. I just hope she can do as well on the standard tracks, which are most of the tracks these days in Nascar, like the upcoming Phoenix race. I am thinking with her Indy car experience she might be able to do well on the road courses. The bad part about road courses is if you don't start up front, then you better hope pit strategy works for you or you are screwed.

I will be getting my tickets for Talladega VERY soon.

Either way, everyone at TRD had heart attacks yesterday afternoon. I would NOT want to be an engine builder there right now, very bad week for sure.

It will be an in depth check to see what happened. Engine failure is actually not uncommon for the Daytona 500. There is more wear and tear for that race than any other race in the entire season. Toyota engines showed that they had the power, that is for sure. Now they need to balance that with longevity!

I would be interested in learning what the actual cause of the failures were. It may not have actually been the engine itself, but a component that helped keep it cool or lubricated.

tru dat, could thrown a belt on the dry sump, I imagine an engine wouldn't last too long at those RPMs

Well I will be honest and say that I am not surprised at Danica's qualifying. Phoenix, as well as the other standardized tracks are the most challenging for any driver. Hopefully she will bring herself into a good finish this weekend.
