Guys, I'm talking about sprint cup nascar, not Indy, dirt, go carts, formula 1, drag racing or potato sack racing

 

Oh , I got ya , when you called him a below average driver I thought you meant a below average race car driver

 

No, he's a beast in formula and Indy, Robby Gordon was too, but was average to below average in sprint cup, just a different animal.

 

Andretti and Stewart have really been the only successful transfers to sprint cup from formula/Indy that I can recall right now

 

I think it's more to do with going from open wheel circuits to ovals as far as the F1 drivers moving over , most of them go to Indy or Endurance / Le Mans .

Drivers moving from Indy to NASCAR makes more sense as they both primarily race ovals

 

Yea that makes more sense, didn't Nelson piquet drive formula? He has been decent at times, long way to go though. Don't even get me started on Villeneuve, great talent, dumb decisions on track

Of all the rookies who sucked, I really wish Travis Pastrana would have done better. Although he's still killing it in Rally racing. I've always admired his competitive spirit and no guts no glory attitude.

Piquet Jr was in F1 , yes , he drove for Renault , his career ended in the " Crashgate " fingerpointing tamponathon , I like Jacques

I can see what you mean! I never really watched him so I never saw this. He shows he can wreck people really well, that is for sure. The question I would have is looking at how hard he drives the car, does the car itself LAST til the end of the race? Looks like he goes through tires like candy bars.

 

Sure makes Nascar 100 times more entertaining having someone like that in the mix.

 

Well he managed to win both the Indy and F1 Championships in cars that don't survive contact very well

I wasn't sure, that is why I was asking. There is a fine line between competitive racing, and being a danger on the track. I think he was showing that he was a danger on the track there.
