It's still unacceptable. No way should you have two sports events (no matter what they are) scheduled so close together.

Side note: never thought of this, but if a driver wins early in one of the rounds (#22 for example in this round), what stops him from taking a "bye week" essentially and sitting out til the next round? Wouldn't be a bad idea with Talladega coming up, keep from potentially tearing up equipment for no reason.

According to the new rules, drivers have to qualify for every race, right ? That keeps them from sitting out. Besides if you already have a win (#22) why would you sit out ? Go for another win and make some $

Yep, a driver must qualify and race every weekend to be eligible for chase.

I think next year with nascar's new contracts for TV I wouldn't be surprised if NASCAR delayed the start of the race by 10 minutes or so due to other sporting events.

Wouldn't taking a bye week fall under the "giving 100%" rule as well?

I wish NASCAR would get their own channel. Problem solved.

Canada still has Speed but the programming is stale. Not enough NASCAR stuff to fill it up and warrant an All racing all the time channel.

Seems like if they had all the talk shows, covered the trucks, nationwide, and cup series plus some arca and k&n series that they could warrant it. Apparently not though

Speed is gone because fox sports bought them out, fox sports wants to rival ESPN, and cover all sports. More consumer base in football and basketball than NASCAR so they get priority in programming, dolla dolla bills y'all

Thought the "must qualify for all races" was only for regular season

If it were me, possibly winning wouldn't make up for the potential of destroying a car, especially at a talladega. Hell, if I did have to qualify for each race, I'd start then feel a "vibration" after about 3 laps. Works for start and parks...

And that's why they stay start and parks. Nobody wants to sponsor cars that barely make an appearance.

Sponsors Yep. Also if you're a fan and go to your local track to see your favorite driver start and park, are you gonna be mad......yep.
