I'd love to hit that track again but we've got a Vegas trip planned and I can't swing another weekend off around that time - folks need grillz

    Re: Pocono

They could put a fixed camera on turn two and just go to commercial for the rest of each lap.
It used to be different when they allowed the teams to run a different gear and Jericho transmission at Pocono. It was a drag race out of turn two.

I like the race, don't mind watching it on TV. Being there is a different story. I had great seats and still could not see shit on the tunnel turn...

    Yeah, Pocono definitely lacks grandstands.

I still can't believe they took down all those seats at Charlotte :( Nascar is too Hollywood now.. if Dale Sr. was alive.. I don't think you would see him in some of the commercials the other guys do. I typically watch 30 of the races a year and have seen this sport slowly dissipate and I think it'll only get worse over the next couple years.

I've watched all of them except a few, that's including trucks and xfinity. What has me pissed off is this Sprint cup on fox sports or nbcsports. My grandmother don't get those channels, so I can't watch them at her house, which is more comfortable than mine. But it also cuts down on total fans. I read where many die hard fans don't get the channels.

Conversely, I watch maybe 2-3 races a year and think it's headed in the right direction if they go with the low downforce package. I wouldn't blame NASCAR so much as I would ESPN for creating and capitalizing on Sports Entertainment and Fox for turning it into a full fledged circus.
Comparing any modern driver's contractual obligations to that of Dale are moot. It's a different era. It's like comparing the handling of a modern Cup car to the handling of the old long wheel base big block machines of yore. Besides, I used to have a life size cutout of Dale in my living room. He was in his driver uniform and holding a package of Oreo cookies, grinning from ear to ear.
They're knocking down seats because obviously they're not selling tickets anymore and also because it doesn't matter anymore. TV contract money generates way more income than physical ticket sales. Plus, it looks better on TV to cram less people into a smaller area.

Costs to much to go to the races anymore so people can't go.. now people can't watch the races unless they pay X amount of dollars a month with there provider to get the channel. Doesn't make sense IMO

I stopped going from '98-'06 because ticket prices were such a joke. Luckily AMS started doing $19 nosebleeds. Other tracks are following suit. In my experience, ticket prices are going down. I spent $140 to sit at the top of the finish line at Talladega 2-3 years ago. I spent $50 this season to see both races at Talladega from nearly the same perch and my kid gets in free. I saw the double header at Atlanta for $25 and my kid was free. We went to the All-Star race at Charlotte for $28 and sat across from the pit exit.

I'm planning on doing Bristol, Martinsville And maybe Indy(500) next year because it's finally getting affordable again. I forgo hotels and opt for AirBnB or staying with friends when we travel.
