Get your hands on some UHMW? Or risking it all and buying lexan/plexi from bLowe's?

    Yeah. anti-static, UV stabilized, UHMW.
Got a couple sheets laying in the garage. MSC Industial had a 25% plus free shipping code a couple weeks ago.

Well damn! Sounds like you got the same stuff we use, or close to it. And at a great price!
I was last quoted around $400 for 4x8 sheet 1/2" thick

That about the same as current pricing. The 2 "sheets" I got are only 24x48 each. Two different thicknesses and easier to handle at that size.
So I paid a little under $200 for the equivalent of half a sheet. The free shipping saved a good chunk too.

Yea, I'd like 3/16 or 1/4 for any skid making ventures. 1/2 is too much, but it's all we get at work and purchasing agent won't special order me a sheet of the thin stuff.
I'll just give my money to Trail Toys for the proper tank skid for less headache.

1/4 is pretty flexible (but should be easier to form). Kinda wish i'd gotten 2 pieces 3/8 though.

Watched some videos on YouTube. Already can't wait to get out there.
Also thinking I might branch out from the group occassionaly for just some easy driving, exploring, and scenery while you guys go for technical trail stuff.

BUT, wife and kids think they want to go too now. If they do, it changes my entire plan for what to pack since 80% of interior cargo space suddenly has people in it. I wasn't planning to spend the $$$ for a roof rack system yet either.

On the plus side, if kids are with me, I get free entry to most national parks and history sites.

Didn't occur to me that we'll be going past RCI. We will have to stop so I can thank them for my bumper being sweet and buy a skid.

    290 DAYS!

    6) Tie Rods
    7) Spare Shocks
    8) Spare Spindles
    9) Steering Rack?
    10) Assorted hoses
    11) Wheel Studs

If you guessed 'it looks like you want to drag along a whole front suspension', you're right! Start sounding off if you want to be responsible for some of this stuff.

I'll be taking alot of oil (which I think will help nobody but me, unless 2nd gens are 0w20), a couple spare shocks, my stock spindles, which will do for an emergency. I know @presta24 has some CV's he said he'd let us borrow for the trip, so that's covered. Really just need someone to handle tie rods. Thoughts on taking a spare steering rack? I think that and whats listed would cover nearly any common trail damage we'd really be likely to encounter without going full retard out there.

I run 0w20, but see no need to bring more than 6qts

Be ready to over heat if you're on a longer trail in July. I started getting warm going up Top of the world trail by the time i got to the top in Sept.
