Eventually I'll do another Utah trip and do the big five. I like backpacking, but this trip will be for the trucks

Seems like every national park out west has no dogs rules. Dunno if it's to protect the parks or protect the dogs or both.

Its mostly to protect the dogs. Dogs used to be allowed everywhere out west but because some people have to ruin it for others..... rules were put in place! Now there are a ton of National Forest you can have your dogs at, mostly all of them! Your National Parks is another story due to high visitation, protected areas, and generalized people being f'n idiots and not watching their dogs and protecting wildlife, plus there's the bears and certain areas, wolves. I've found that the same pretty much with all National Parks even out East. Its a pain in the ass because I travel with pooches all the time, so we tend to travel the National Forest areas instead and you are not as restricted or restricted at all with dogs and the same with off-roading forest service trails and the fire trails.

That's what we did a couple weeks ago. White Rim, Top of the World, Poison spider Mesa, Hell's Revenge and Elephant Hill. Was a great trip, need to call early and reserve White Rim they only let a certain number of people in each day and it takes three days to do it.
