My transmission started making a funny noise, and I might have to start looking for a new one. I'll see what the fluid looks like, but I think its starting to go.
I hope I get to replace ALL the parts on my truck:rolleyes:
It might be a good thing that I haven't ordered my gears yet. We'll see how this turns out

It has a whine when I'm driving forward, that increases in pitch with my speed and not rpm. It only does it when I'm on the gas and when I let off, I can hear the gears chirping or kind of buzzing as I let off.
I tried to take some video to get the sound but it didn't come out clearly. I'll take some later when I get on pavement for better sound.

I'm assuming its an automatic, it might be the carrier bearing if it sounds like its under your seat, or worse, could be axle &/or pinion bearings possibly, but yeah sound from vid would speak volumes..

    Haha, Hi Cory !!...

Ok, my gopro can't record sound. POS.
So someone else said input shaft bearing as well. And to check my motor mounts to see if they're twisted. I'm getting it checked out tomorrow, so I'll see what they say.

Ok, they're not actually "color-matched", they just happened to be really close.

Local toyota dealership ordered them in for me. I don't remember what brand they were though. I can find out if you like.

    Now for the good stuff.
Turns out my front and rear gear ratios might be different:rolleyes:
I wasn't 100% sure when I bought my rear axle, so yeah.
I did the spin the wheels and count the flange rotations, but I guess I could have been off. My mechanic and I took it out for a drive to listen for the mystery noise, and he threw it in 4wd on the pavement and it bogged down and lost power. So he said the ratios might be different, which explains why the 4wd doesn't disengage for a while.
Anyway, I never noticed before, since I only ever used my 4wd in sand and loose gravel. So I'm going to regear like I planned and see what happens. Hopefully the 4wd issue is resolved and the noise goes away.
