I didn't RTFM but am curious if our factory nav leaves breadcrumbs when you go off marked roads. My LR3 and RRS had this feature that was pretty cool

Factory nav works fine for me over the last two years. Not sure what isn't working for people. Maybe the maps are a bit screwy in other locations but for Texas, I haven't had any issues.

Toyota just need to take the boat and start putting Android auto and Apple CarPlay in their **** car/trucks!!

This navigation system is one of the worse i've use, seriously.
Unable to make voice commands, I always end up wanting to fight with this nav crap system.

My 2017 Nav has a Route Trace function that I have used while offroading. Easy to use and allowed me to drive out with ease.

My $0.02...The Tacoma navigation is pretty straight forward. I just came from a BMW and it was a PITA to use. Looked good, but when trying to enter an address, it was miserable.

To everyone saying that it's hard to turn off: Just use voice commands. Hit the button on your steering wheel and then say "Cancel destination" or "cancel route" and it will turn off the nav.

Android auto is fantastic. I really don't understand the strategy behind car companies making their own. Unless it's some odd ploy to "trap" you in their ecosystem.

The only downside of doing Android auto or carplay is that they really need to support both at the same time. Otherwise you exclude a good portion of your market. Android and apple probably want exclusive deals with each manufacturer with a contract that says: you can't support our competition.

I think that's why you see more autos doing the mirroring thing. Let's the person's phone drive the setup.

Thank you!!! I suspect most of my difficulty using the navi is due to USER problems. I don't computer good.

No problem! I just wish it was easier to adjust the nav volume or have it lower my music when it's talking to me, that's the only real annoying thing I've noticed about it.

Try google maps? you can download specific geographic area to your phone while you have a signal. I've done that everytime I venture into state and national forests. Even when I don't have a data signal, it will revert to the saved map of the forest I'm in and shows me where I'm at.I always do it so I have a backup to my in vehicle nav.

my method: 1. turn off blue tooth on phone. 2. open Siri ask her to take me where I want to go. 3. Turn on bluetooth again (for text messages and phone capabilities) 4. Turn on Nav on head unit.
    5. Follow directions from Siri, but use large map on head unit to view layout of road ahead (aging eyes).

My two cents, which you've heard before, not a fan of Entune in any way shape or form.

Btw, sorry if this was mentioned elsewhere, but to cancel a route, press the voice command button and say, "cancel route."

    Works like a charm.

Navigation in my Tacoma is pretty good, especially compared to the garbage we have in the 18 wheelers. Miss a turn or road you can't use and you manually have to press reroute. That could take 5 minutes, by then you drove by the next street it wanted you to take, by then you found it yourself. I will say one thing about navigation, when it works right it makes driving a lot easier.

Mine tells me to turn in 500 feet when I'm already at the intersection.
