Nav System

Hi everyone!

I'm brand new here and definitely brand new to this mod thing and all the possibilities out there. Came across the forum while looking for info on bull/push guards. So while familiarizing myself with this place, I saw the Buy/Sell/Trade forum and a few Nav system postings. That immediately sparked an interest since that's the only thing I "regret" about my 2014 TRD Sport, not getting the Nav system.

So I did some searching and tried to find "how to's" and "compatibility" info so I could jump on one for sale, to make sure it could be done and how, but either I missed it or there wasn't anything on it. Might have missed it... there was a lot of info/posts/threads to sift through so it's possible. So I apologize in advance if there's something already out there.

So here is my question(s), and depending on what I get as feedback, I might get more, so please bare with me!

I have a 2014 TRD Sport. It has the stock Entune radio system, which has Bluetooth, XM and HD radio, CD player, all that standard stuff. No JBL. I think it's called 'Entune Audio Plus". What is the compatibility of one year to another as far as swapping out what I have for something with Nav, meaning, if I get a 2015 radio? Would I need to buy any extra pcs or cables to make the swap, based on what I already have and what I would be getting? And how difficult is it to do, if it can be done?

Just want to make sure I'm not getting in over my head on this "little project" since it's a newbie to this sort of thing.

Entune Premium W/Nav should be plug and play.Was for my 2015. Xm Module needs to be swapped to the new HU.

 

Great. That's what I was hoping for! So basically any 2014 and 2015 radio should work... right? I'm guessing because I already have Sat radio, the antenna for the Nav is already there as well?!

 

Plug right in. I want to do the same. But looking at the android aftermarket radio I might do that instead

It keeps getting better and better then, with the confirmations of plug & play! Now I just have to find one for sale and cough up the $$. Saw a 2015 posted last night, and sent PM but I think I got beat. It was 2AM out here in the East and the guy that posted it was in the West, and I think the first PM was as well... but we'll see, fingers crossed!

And yes, that is me with Lauzon! Got a pic with him last year when he fought at Foxwoods here in CT at one of the UFC Fight Night events, headlined by Jacare Souza vs Moussassi. Looking at your ava, looks like you're an UFC fan as well, so this might make sense. I have a bunch of Round % collectible figures, one which is his, and got that autographed as well. Have a bunch of pics with fighters from that night actually, as well as a bunch of autographs!

 

Nice. I asked my Toyota Dealer about the radio a year after I bought mine. They said yes plug right in. But I'm never 100% sure when they tell you something. But most likely yes because I'm sure they just plug the different radios into the different models.

Yes UFC nut here. Natural born killer is my Fav. Went to the first one in Boston years ago(Penn vs Frankie Edger). Great time. But like watching on tv in my house. But have to go to at least one to see how it is. Only one I met was the ref they kicked out for dealing pot. (Josh Rotherntal). And went to the expo and saw a bunch of them there.

 

Cool! I got hooked on it because of my bro in law. Talked me into going to UFC 154 in Montreal when GSP came back from being hurt and fought your dude for the belt. From that point on I was hooked.

Bought MMA brand tees (Fear The Fighter, Dethrone Royalty, Torque), bought some Round 5 figs, went to the UFC Fight Night event at Foxwoods, and try to watch all of the events on TV, try to at least.

 

Me too. I'm going broke paying for all the PPV's. The wife wants to shoot me.

 

Yeah... they're killer. Try to switch between my house and my bro in law, to "even it out".

 

I may be late to the party, but I have a 2014 that came with the Entune "plus", and I did purchase and swap with a 2015 NAV.

100% plug and play. My XM box plugged right in and it works perfectly. No other mods needed. Good luck in your search for a NAV!

Whats going on TRD Sport Tacoma brother man?? I am in the same boat as you man. I even have been looking on Amazon and I found one for like 1600 that is the perfect match, both plug and play but the guy wont come down on his price and its not a big, he wants full retail price for it. Where have you been looking man? Ill keep an eye out for you man, if I find a place, but EBay is not the place right now man.

 

FYI guys, there's a member that sells them on here. PM @FLTrucks and he'll get you squared away if that's what you really want. He has a thread dedicated to selling the upgraded Nav headunits and there's a bunch of Q&A in there as well as feedback from other members and happy customers.

Welcome to TW Nuno. The other thing you will need is a different vin# to activate the Toyota app suite witch allows you to add software updates and enjoy the different apps. This only works with a smart phone. Good Luck with your hunt.JD

 

NOPE! If you read back in the thread he ran out months ago. Got mine though and is just what I wanted.

 

Ooops! Sorry guys, my mistake. I haven't read through that thread in a long time. If it makes anyone feel better, I upgraded from my Entune Plus to the nav unit and then swapped back to stock and sold the nav to another member. I didn't like the interface lockout with the Toyota navigation. You can't enter new addresses while driving and have to stop the vehicle completely to access certain features. I drive a lot for work and am constantly updating my nav points, so I need to be able to do things on the quick. Not a huge deal for some, but a PITA for me. For now I stick with my Garmin. I have it hardwired to the truck because I hate dangly cables all over my dash.

I'm still surprised by how quickly you can get information from other members. I've needed help a few times in the past and reached out. Sometimes with great success, other times- crickets. Just passing along the info.

Also, since you guys are relatively new to the site: if you see one for sale in the marketplace and it's been "spoken for", PM the OP anyway and get in line. Sales don't always come through and people back out all the time. You could get lucky.
