I'm getting ready to install my JVC KW-NT3HDT and was wondering if anyone has located the nav unit antenna inside the vehicle, if so, where and where not.

Yea on the dash all the way to passenger side. Works great and you don't really notice it. Just run the wire under the dash behind glove box and then up the side to the top

How do you think it would work if I ran the cable up the passanger side roof column and stuck the antenna to the upper right corner of the windshield?

I believe the instructions said "it must be mounted on a flat/level location in view of the sky

I stuck mine to the top of my H/U. I had a full signal right through the dash + winshield.

Do you routinely keep strong signal strength when driving? I figured my portable unit works great setting on the console cup holders ahead of the shifter. Why would I need to place it on the roof? Now under the dash, I wouldn't have thought that would work but it certainly is worth a try.

I have mine mounted in the blackout area where the rear view mirror attaches to the windshield. I ran my wire up the passenger side a-pillar and inside the headliner. Just used a dab of silicone and taped it for the night while it dried.

Which begs the question... why would anyone not use the easy and invisible method if the easy and invisible method works just fine?

I already have one bump on the roof which I will be using for XMDirect. I don't want to install another up there so the no brainer seems to be to stick it to the top of the head unit under the dash. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I popped mine right through the defroster vents and its sits dead center on top of dash. Was a bitch to get the plug end through but with a little patience it can be done.

under the dash right behind the head unit. You have to send the connector in from the top down, if you feel inside the holes you can feel the duct work for the defrost vent. put your hand through the hu hole. you have to kinda push up on the dash from the inside to create a gap to push it through and do an immediate uturn with the connector. Its a bitch like i said.

I have a kenwood dnx7160 not sure what the other brands look like or if its even possible with them.

I recently installed a JVC KW-NT50HDT and I have the Sat Ant under the dash behind the HU, on squeezed on top of a vent w/double sided tape it came with. Just make sure no metal is present between the Ant and the sky. BTW mine works great, IN FACT I get Sat reception in my garage. Crazy.

Just found this thread, since I'm considering buying this particular headunit (JVC KW-NT50HDT). Cosmetically speaking, where can I get the double-din piece that replaces the plastic surrounding the factory unit?

    Thanks!
