I so rarely use Amazon anymore. Never been a prime member.

I maybe think of getting items on amazon a couple times a year if that. Right now I'm looking for some quality 550 cordage, a few books, a ferro rod, and maybe a snow globe with an active mini black hole inside. Simple stuff.

When I see 'made in USA' but then click on the seller and see it ships from overseas, what gives? I don't want to end up with junk, and Amazon seems to be getting inundated with 3rd party sellers and their bag of tricks.

How is one supposed to not get shafted when buying off amazon, or should I just say screw em?

It is hard to discern online. The good news is returns are easy peasy if you dont like what you get, and your account is credited very quickly when you turn the package over to the shipper.

Research the seller and product and read reviews. Otherwise it's buyer beware anywhere on the internet. Use a credit card that protects your purchases.

Just check that the product can be returned to Amazon not the seller.

"Lions Not Sheep" just got fined $211,000 for replacing "Made in China" with "Made in USA".

Here is the official documents from the federal trade commission. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/222 3023 - Lions Not Sheep combined file not signed.pdf

The owner of the company put out a statement saying that the law changed too quickly and they didn't give them enough time to be compliant. Even if that is true, they still lied to their customers.

Numerous times they put advertisements out that said “100% AMERICAN MADE.” which they were not.

This entire company based their image on this and it was a blatant lie. I guess if it's a really big company and they are saying made in the USA, them it's probably real since they are in the spotlight.

I found a US based manufacturer of 550 cord as well as a bunch of other stuff. In my opinion their inventory variety is dizzying. More than just 550 cord.
