    Random question...

I bought a 2020 TRD Sport and it does NOT have navigation nor does it have the upgraded JBL audio system. But it does have the “map” button on the side of the screen. And I can run navigation from my phone and “mirror” it to the head unit via a USB cable.

    Now for the question:
Can I get an upgrade to my software to use the Toyota Navi software... without replacing or buying a new head unit?

    Thanks guys!

Not sure, but with your phone you'll never have to pay for update. I wouldn't pay to have it updated.

Toyota (and most other OEs) have pretty useless NAV.

And it's not free. Nor portable of you fly somewhere and rent a vehicle.

Sounds like you already have a better setup.

Use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and you can use Waze, Google Maps, or Apple Maps. All 3 of these are free and updated constantly, far more often than the Toyota Maps.

Using Apple Play now with Google Maps... and that’s only every blue-moon when I actually need it. I think I’ll just stay with the setup I have now. Thanks guys!!
