I was an undesignated engingeer also that was the worst ever and hurt me bad on my career for learning stuff. Terrible way to come in the Navy.

    .

USNR (E1 - E4) did Class A school as a Corpsman (G. Lakes) & FMSS (FMF school - LeJeune) ... then jumped ship (after FMSS) to USMC when they offered me a deal that I could not refuse. USMC (O1 - O2) did RVN as a helicopter pilot, was banged up several times, and then was PEBed out the door on a medical and was later retired on disability. Military --- circa 1964 - 1969.

And it all started when I signed up to join (high school buddy talked me into it) the USNR to be a "peace loving SeaBee" and just build stuff ... ... Oh, how things changed when I went on active duty. ...
