I liked the G30SF and would carry two full size G21SF mags as backup.

I've read that about the Kimber TLE too. I wonder if it's true.

    Reguardless, I bought a Kimber TLE 10mm. It's ok. I probably should have got a glock 20...

Kimbers are expensive. Great gun very accurate but expensive.

But what do I know. I don't a. Own a gun yet, b. Don't know the diff between a mag and a clip.

You won't go wrong with the 19. For a first time owner that is a good choice. Yes it does take 17 mags, just make sure its the same gen, just like the trucks. I would recommend night sights, maybe a light in the future

26 is good for carrying as well but it does not have a rail so future weapons light will not be an option.

Everything is a gen thing now. But thanks for the reminder. And thank you for the input on the sites.

Yea, I think the high-end fancy Kimbers aren't worth it. But the TLE/RL is like a grand. The Glock 20 is like 600 bucks. I figured what the hell, I wanted a 1911 because I havn't had one before. They are cool, I can hit really well with it. I'm happy, just not with the misfeeds...

Gotta keep them clean and a good amount of lube. Plus you have to man up on it, if the recoil pushes the muzzle high it fails to feed because the slide did not go all the way back. 1911s are an entirely different animal. Kimber makes great products but they like to use their own parts so upgrades can get interesting.

Yep. I would look at the gen4 because of the different back straps, you can easily fit it to your hand with the 3 sizes. You can buy it with night sights. I would also upgrade to a steel double recoil spring. That will put some more wight up front to help with recoil, and the springs will help smooth it it as well

haha ya this forum seems to have all walks of life in it.

Look into Smith and Wesson M&Ps too. There will be haters on both sides. It comes down to user preference. Grip angle on the clock doesn't work for some people so they say "it sucks" but can't give a reason why. Both will work just as well. I have both, highly modified and also stock. My go to is the MP, works the best for me.

Yea, I think the biggest thing is you seem to be set on 9mm, which is a great round for a first gun. And the ammo is dirt cheap, cheapper than .22lr even.

There's always a holy war about calibers. But it always comes down to the fact that if you don't hit what your shooting at, knockdown power doesn't matter. :) 9mm is a great round, and easy to shoot. It's the most popular handgun caliber in the world for a reason.

Exactly. I run 40 for the extra grains and distance. Will always buy a 40 because I drop in a conversion barrel and I can run 357 sig with the same mags; drop in a 9 with 9 mags. One pistol, three calibers.
9 is a great round and has come a long way

From what little I know misfeeds are mostly related to magazines. Mine runs like a sewing machine.image.jpg

I belive my misfeeds are related to my extractor being too tight. It only happens when I have one or two left in the mag. I have Cobra Mags, Wilsons, and some other kinds. I put in an Ed Brown extractor and it's better, but still happens sometimes. I also run a stronger spring, which I think keeps the slide from going back as long and hard as it should. I'm going to clean my 1911, tweak the extactor a bit so it isn't so tight, and go back to the stock spring. I think it will run great then.

That's one nice Kimber, @t4daddy . I'm happy with mine. IMO, a grand for a TLE/RL is a decent deal, night sites, rail, 10mm :D. MIM parts and all, I have about a thousand rounds thru mine and it just keeps getting a better feel.

I'm having a hard time deciding on my next one. Im stuck between the g30, g30s and g19. Already have a g26 as my edc. I wish they made a 45 in the same fram/slide size as the g19. The g30 seems to be the closest.

Is it failing to extract or failing to load? Dental pick needs to be in everyones kit. Carbon builds up on the extractor face and it can't grab. Also build up in the spring itself and it can't get full motion.

Mark the bottom of your mags with a sharpie, numerical order. That will help to find bad mags if it happens with the same mag(s). My go to responses for 1911 malfunctions are clean, lube, and man up on the gun. I have run thousands of rounds through them and 99% of the time its one of those 3.

The 30S is almost identical in size to the 19. I don't notice the difference between the two at all when carrying.
