Finally got a Tacoma. Looking to re-gear it before I start adding all the weight of an overland build. Looking for a good and competent shop that can do the re-gearing properly. I’m stationed at Ft.Bragg. Any suggestions? Thank you all!

Welcome, unfortunately you may have to stray away from the area. There isn't much around us here at Bragg that I would personally have a good amount of faith in. I have not done any re-gearing on my truck so I don't have any personal experience. I have encountered a couple people that have gone to Performance Off-road near Riley and Morganton that have had good results. I have had a lot of good general mechanic experience with Tucker's Auto Repair in Spring Lake though I am not sure if they will do re-gearing. I would suggest giving them a call. Tucker's has always giving me fair pricing and I have never been ripped off there. Of course there is always 4 Wheel parts in Raleigh. CDT Performance looks decent from what I can tell but again no personal experience.

I generally try to do the work myself so I don't go to shops to often unless the job is beyond my capability, which re-gearing would be lol.

I would contact these shops in this order:

    Asheville vehicle outfitters
    Apex overland
    Down east off-road

East Coast Gear Supply (ECGS) in the RDU area is the go-to for all things axle/diff/gears.

I would honestly avoid any off road shops in Fayetteville, its a shame they don't have a decent one around because they could make a killing doing off road work for jeeps and trucks. I've reached out to CDT recently to see if they could do a cab mount relocation, seems like a good reputable shop. I've also heard 4WP in Raleigh is also good.
