Truck goes too fast and I should remember to clean the snow off the plate next time...

As much as it would suck to loose the functionality of the front rack, from what my buddies say around here we got quite a bit of mud to contend with on the trail. If I drive a couple more hours up north the landscape totally changes and there's not so much mud, but lots of hard pack with rock to crawl on and much more water type crossings with a hard bottom. So it might be best for me to consider the rad relocate and a snorkel install. First things first tho, I'll get out on the trail to see what I really want to play in and go from there. That screen protection you were mentioning for your rad sounds like a good alternative to actually relocating it. Lemme know how it works out for you!

As for tires, I know I'm going to need something that works well with snow and going in reverse. I plan on using the atv to plow snow so i'll have to keep that in mind when I select tires. I know i'll go bigger, just don't know if it'll be a hard core mud tire or not. Maybe if I find decent used zillas, I could always run two sets... Might be a little tricky setting up the clutch decently tho.

After lots of research on GC, those Yamaha glide plates and Ricochet a-arm guards sounds like the way to go! That plastic is definitely tough stuff and apparently it slides better in mud and snow as well. I like how its one piece and light weight as well. I know there's going to be rock to deal with so I hope something like that will hold up well. I really like technical trail riding so, I'm a little concerned on having really good protection underneath.

I have a few months yet to really find a good deal on a used one. If something don't come up in that time, I may go new with a warranty. You wouldn't believe the deals my buddy keeps showing me tho, but a Grizz just seems to be more suitable in many aspects. ;)

^^^Blasphemy! I like your plan to ride and find out what you like. Perfect way to decide on direction/accessories for sure! I definitely prefer technical riding. Climbing over/around stuff is so much fun! Mud is fun, for a while. Too easy to break stuff IMO. and it's a mess to clean up. I know some people don't mind it but I get tired of it after about two rides in mud for the year. I am researching snorkeling a little more for a spring project. You're definitely on the right track for doing this!

Installed my Spidertrax over the weekend. Looks great! Need to trim the flaps a little and that'll be good. also noticed the needle bearing in the diff has lots of play. Ordering the solid bushing to remedy it

A seat heater! Damn, now that's luxury! :p Nice trunk as well. Wonder how well two ppl on your rig would sit? Does your trunk have a jerry can holder?

As for snorkelling your Grizz, been reading quite a bit about that as well. It seems pretty doable. Just a pita getting all the correct parts but I did find a thread where a guy had listed everything he used, so that would help. I'm not one to mud like crazy, friends around here love that sorta thing but I know its not something i'll be able to completely avoid either, so snorkelling and possible rad relocate would be on my to do list.

My GF was there after I put it on so we sat on it and she was comfortable as hell! The seat heater was a gift with the heated grips and the box. I need to get some 1/4" staples to install it since the 1/2" ones I have would go through the other side of the seat. It does not have a jerry can holder. I'll probably get a Rotopax some day just for super long rides.
I will be snorkeling this winter. I'm gonna have them only about 6" above the front rack though. Just enough for comfort on deep water and a little mud. I honestly love mudding but hate the clean up!

Good to know! How tall are you? I'm 6'2" so I'm wondering if riding double on a grizz is possible. A 6" snorkel above the rack sounds sufficient, I'll probably do about the same. Don't need anything to obnoxious looking lol Just a little extra reassurance just in case. The jury isn't out about the mud tho, I know with my truck I absolutely hate it and try to avoid it if possible, but with an atv I may be different. We'll see how it goes. Mudding hurts any machine tho, so that may be fun only for so long.

I'm 6'-0" and she's 5'-4". Mudding these is a blast to me when the mud is only deep enough that going through it is easy and can be done without getting muddy or pinning it and spinning through haha

Good to know Nick, thanks! Don't really plan on riding double too much but just in case. Ever consider aftermarket flares? That would help keep ya clean when playing in the mud. :)

She and I ride 2-up all the time haha But no to flares. I've already gone between trees and touched the fenders a couple times. Can't afford any more width! Plus, the tires poking out just a little looks awesome! That and we LOVE getting muddy lol I really do enjoy mudding but hate cleanup!

Honestly, no. I feel like this is plenty of power. It moves plenty fast as is. Though, in a few years if Yamaha pushes an 800 or something out then I may be tempted to upgrade haha

Rode Saturday about 35 miles. At the end decided to play on a snow pile at my Dad's garage and got stuck. Damned lockers made me think I was invincible!

Nice pics! How's the heat grips and seat working for ya so far? Might have to throw some 28"+ tires on soon. :D

the heated grips are awesome! Still haven't hooked up the heated seat as I need 1/4" staples to do so. I was thinking about tires the other day aand trying to decide what to go with next once I decide a size lol

I knew you'd wanna step up a size sooner than later! lol Man those 28" mega mayhems are pretty sweet. They look aggressive enough for the mud but will still provide some decent trail manners. (from what I've read mind you). Or maybe a 28" zilla? They get very good reviews and are super light. Wouldn't have to mess with clutching too much...

Can't remember if I asked you, but did you get the heated thumb as well?
