Did this mod today. I got the truck used and I thought there was something wrong with the fog's when they didn't come on after I pressed the button. Broke out the owner's manual only to learn they only work when the headlights are on. I thought that was ridiculous so I'm really glad I found this mod. The fog light relay is in the large box on my 2010 so I had to run a wire to the small box where the AC relay is. It's the only thing in the small box. I used a black wire so it's really not noticable unless you are looking for it. Works great. Thanks!!

I did mine a bit different. Instead of the extension, I removed the factory wire from the bottom left pin, which is the one everyone bends. Piped in a new wire to it, through the wiring loom and back into the main electrical box on the other side. Plugged it into the factory wired seat heater, which I do not have but it is set up for in my 2015 TRD Off-road. Put an inline fuse between the relay and the constant 12V source.

Result is anytime on or off, regardless of key position. Sucks if you forget and leave it on. Just another option!

Where do the 2 wires go when you run them off the middle pin? Somewhat confused as I has a 2015 SR5 that came with fogs. looking to do a constant 12v as well so I can use them whenever. Thank you for this awesome write up

Just finished this mod, 13 trdor 4x4, works like a champ. Now on with the led fogs install in the morning. Years ago my Dad and I were heading out to hunt, ran into fog even the low beams produced too much glare. Had amber fogs on a toggle switch, so turned off the headlights, and with only the fogs I could see well enough to proceed, but a little slower.

    Thanks for sharing this.

I got the wrong connectors, so I used shrink tubing, works.

Did the mod. Works fine. My little sub-junction box only contained the FOG relay.

It also contained a spot and wiring for the Air Pump Heater. I did not have this relay but am noticing that many others do. I robbed my 12v ignition on signal from this unused relay spot. disengaged the clips and swapped the pins for a super clean mod.

My concern though is, I see a lot of folks have the Air pump heater relay. I drive a 2012, the year with the most reported Air Pump issues, obviously wondering if the relay is not something I should have and may avoid Air Pump issues that have been common on the 2012s? My quick search into the topic didn't turn up much useful info.

If your air pump didnt function properly you would be throwing a code for sure. Its possible it is in another spot in the main fuse box or you dont have the air pump (which for a 2012 im 99.99% sure you do)

Does anyone have issues with fog lights not turning off automatically after leaving and locking vehicle?

I can see myself forgetting when using fog lights as running lights.

I'm wondering if there is an alternative for this?

Edit: fog lights turn off auto now. Went back and redid all connection crimps and wiring. Works flawlessly.

Another happy customer here. Took like 5 minutes extra cause some junk from my supercharger was in the way so I had to take one bolt out and swivel it up.

^arrow showing the box I need to access, circle showing the two bolts

    IMG_5190.jpg
^not as clean as some of y'all and took way longer cause I'm inept at electrical stuff

    IMG_5191.jpg
    ^BOOM, love it!

This got me too, I thought something screwed up. They worked after I started the truck though. Do they normally only turn on while the truck is running?

No pics of the wiring but did this today. It was easy but the only problem was my fog relay is in the main fuse box and my inverter was in the small box. Thank you for sharing this mod.20170909_162900.jpg
