Just did this on my 14' trd.. Worked like a charm.. Except something happened to my drl lights, they didn't turn on.. Might be cause it's night time.. :/ Gonna try it in the daytime and see if it'll work..

I did and weird thing happened.. but next morning in the day time everything worked perfectly... Gonna have to keep an eye on it.

I know it shouldn't because I for sure didn't touch the drl's or any part of it. But Im gonna keep my eye on it.

I don't have the small black box on my 13 Reg Cab. I like to have this box for my fog lights and maybe other things. Any ideal where one might find one of these? I don't want my relay expose to the elements.

Nice write up. Just needs to warm up so I can get these wired.

    Thanks

The i4 is probably different as you don't have the air pump relay or ac relay thus the box is not needed. The fog light relay will be in the main box and you can do the exact same mod there but will have to use a different source for the brown wire power. Read the notes in the op

Just did this on my 2012 and love it. It took 5 minutes. I took a screen shot of you finial wiring on my phone and had it to reference to as I did it. My far the best free mod I have ever done.

anybody know of a website where I can buy different color wire and these blade connectors? what gauge wire did you use OP? (I'm in Germany and the PX on base doesn't have any of this, and German blade connectors are different then the ones in your picture. I'm still google searching for a website no luck yet.)

one of the posts earlier on stated 16awg wire is what i used.

Heres the connectors i used... not the greatest of quality but they get the job done.

I have the same truck you do and I don't have that relay either. Under the cover it says 'Air Pump Htr', but the relay socket is empty.... check the underside of the cover.

No DTRL? If you mean the headlights always being on, then no. My amber lights closest to the grille are always on though... I've always interpreted that as DTRL.

**Edit** Check this thread about the pump... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/212846-air-pump-htr-what.html

the Air Pump Htr is the relay that powers the emmissions air pump found on the V6's (2013+ and possibly 2012+).. It simply injects clean air into the exhaust manifolds to aid the catalytic converters in their operation.

Question: Is the brown wire bent blade going into the same slot as a blade from the relay? Or is that slot empty?

The blade goes just in front of the slot for the relay, you may want to put a little bit of a bend into the blade just to ensure good contact.

It goes into the same female blade connector that that leg of the relay goes into... the way it is bent is to allow the relay to sit flat rather than bending the male blade right at the barrel part which would hold the relay up out of the socket ~ 1/8 of an inch.
