I appreciate the clarification. Guess I was thrown by the mentioning of it being in the cabin fuse box vs under the hood

Ahh. Which is considered easier and better in your opinion? Which way would you do it if it was your truck!

First thanks to @nd4spdbh . Threads like these make this place absolutely invaluable. I've got some SS3's on the way and wanted to do the mod in anticipation. wouldn't you know: 2013 AC SR5, no AC/DC relay.

    upload_2020-12-2_13-18-51.jpg

49 pages is a lot of reading. Am I correct that there are currently 3 options if you're in my boat:

EFI relay: but even with the truck off, it may power on briefly at random times
Towing Tail relay: (I have the tow package, and use it)
true ANYTIME option (key or no key), within the fog relay itself: risk is that you could forget it's on and drain the battery.

    Does this cover it?

    and I'm with him....

    and for the tangent:

know of a good write up on this topic?

Hard to tell in that pic but is the AC/DC socket have its pins inside it or are they blank?

As far as an inverter, I would run a constant fused hot directly off the battery to the bed of the truck that you can plug any stand alone inverter off Amazon into. Constant hot at the bed has been probably my most used mod, link below in my sig.

there's something in there, but I wouldn't call them pins.

and thanks on the 12V bed mod...completely missed the obvious.

Have you shoved a 12v tester down there to see if there is power?

Job one when I get home. Until this moment I assumed no relay/no outlet/no pins.

Yeah looks like its blank. Hmm.

Do you want it like the original mod where its anytime the key is turned on, not just when tail lights are on?

yes. I want to be able to push the button and have fogs. All other lighting be damned.

sounds like EFI is the way to go, eh? There haven't been any problems that have come from that?

I do a fair amount of tent camping. The only issue I could see is if these very bright SS3 Pros came on in the middle of the night blasting some unsuspecting neighbors site while I'm oblivious to the whole thing. Other than that I don't know there'd be any problem.

Thought that maybe over the 7 years since you shared this mod someone had found an alternate switchable source. It's still brilliant.

at the moment I think I'm leaning this way. Just need to be sure to keep them off. this way I have total control.

There has to be a switched on with key 12v that we can grab that doesnt come on at random times like the EFI. Let me dig into wiring diagrams.

Do you have the factory tow package?

So in that case you should be able to grab of pin 2 of the batt charge relay!

I'd be willing to be that guinea pig. I can see it in @caribe makaira diagram, I'll see if I can identify it tomorrow in the truck. If you've got a pic from your '13, I'd welcome it.

sorry. not seeing it from what you've shared. I'm not terribly experienced messing with the electrical, but I follow directions well.

    Do I have this right?
