I'm looking for a carpet out of a used truck. Problem is that most of the Tacoma's we have are reg or extra cabs. Your axle is coming out of a reg cab 4cyl but don't worry it is the same.

Rob, did you get stuck and open a door, or was the water high enough where it came through your door seals? Either way, that sucks

Rob, I speak from experience here... Take the seats and carpet out. Let the padding/carpet dry for a few days while you scrub the floor with a bristle brush and vacuum the shit out. It's gonna be ugly man. Do it before you get mold and mildew

Shouldn't the drain holes be sealed? I know for me having a manual, there is basically a big hole where the shifter is. Dunno if the automatics are the same way.

Automatics have a sealed cable shift for the shifter. No leaks.

NOTHING came through the door seals actually. All the water was under my carpet and in the door kick plate channel things. The only place that leaked on the top of the carpet was near where the seat rails bolt through the carpet once the sub carpet area filled up haha.

The drain plugs are idiotic. The only thing holding them in is the carpet. If you put an entire truck's weight on that plug with just the carpet holding it down, you're gonna get leaking. Now if the plugs were on the bottom of the cab, it would force the plugs to seal tighter. My truck leaked from the plugs mostly. You can see the large accumulation of mud and sand around the plugs, which I have circled in the first two photos.

One of my cars, those seals where there securely. They only popped when the muffler shopped jacked up the car by the floor boards.

You can push our plugs in with ease with your finger. Not sealed up well at all

This is the hole around my shifter

Edit: there is a boot, but I doubt it would hold back much water if I went deep enough.

I'm very surprised you don't have a boot for that! Don't go fording water!

Edit for your edit: that boot looks like it'll seal ok. I would throw a bead of silicone around the base when bolting it to the trans tunnel. Maybe a pipe clamp on the boot where it goes on the shifter?
