NE area wheeling trip plans

figured i'd post an update for the maine trip since it'll be here before we know it. i'm going to work on getting the maps downloaded tonight for the route onto my ipad

 

Cool, I was going to ask you about that and see if there is a way to test it before we go???

 

Disable data and wifi / enable GPS and drive around. There's no way to technically simulate GPS locations without getting super technical or buying additional equipment as far as I'm aware.

 

if i send you the route info can you try it too as a backup in case mine fails?

I'm allergic to apples. (literally)

 

i was going to use my ipad. but i also have a galaxy tablet. maybe i'll just do both on my own devices

 

i have the samsung on att, the ipad on verizon. this'll be a true battle

 

downloads complete. will test out the map by my house tonight

 

sweet, i found some karaoke apps for the car ride too per my passenger's request

Wish you could load custom routes into the factory gps. Probably won't have any roads listed up there anyways

 

I use backcountry navigator on Android. You can easily download topos for offline use, and import/export waypoints and tracks.

 

I plug my phone in so at least the maps show up on the radio

 

Suprisingly I found plenty of logging roads in the factory gps when I was up there a few weeks ago, even found a few roads that were heavily overgrown that showed up in the gps.

hey wat's up folks? had a decent turn out last time so thinking of a end of summer wheeling trip\meet. thinking mid to late September sat or sunday morning. , we can go back to Connecticut if that's what people are into or im willing to try new spots if anyone has any suggestions.
lets see everybody's availability and get something rolling.

Me and a friend of mine will be checking out beartown state forest and October mountain state forest this Saturday 8/17. We are meeting at the gas station right outside beartown at 10 AM If anyone wants to join.
