It's going.. Not as quickly as I'd like but what can you do.. CB should be next weekend and just waiting for suspension parts to come in.. Should be this week hopefully! UCAs are here, waiting on leaf pack and Kings. RCI bedrack and Tepui tent have been on but doubt I'll be using it the rest of the year so I'll pull the tent off.. Fighting the urge to buy wheels and 33's lol

I would think you’ll want some armor. IFS skid at the least, sliders couldn’t hurt either. I went to this spot back in June at stock height but loaded up with armor, and bashed the hell out of it. I would say recovery points front and rear would be the absolute minimum.

@BadDNA whats the consensus on stock trucks? No armor doable?

It never ends does it? Just when I thought I was done, today I started looking at caps. With a cap will come more weight and will prob need beefier leafs. And if I’m going beefier leafs I might as well get a high clearance rear bumper too and then buy leafs according to that weight...

Did you buy an SWR meter when you ordered the CB? You can tune your radio with my meter if you want.

The RI spot is very stock friendly. Only spot to really worry about is the optional hill climb @RhodeIsland4bang

What he said. I’m also a terrible driver so my armor gets more use than it should.

James do you think you can join?

I do have access to an SWR meter, yes.. But if that falls through I'll let you know!
And no it doesnt.. I've looked into a cap, but I didn't want to be able to never remove it (easily that is!)
Looking forward to seeing you and your truck man.. How are you liking the 6112's? You're running an HD Dakar pack, right?

I went with the MD Dakars and they’re ok but don’t handle added weight of the RTT and a full load load as much as I’d like. I’m very happy though with the 6112/5160s though. @crashngiggles was a huge help getting my setup right.

I can prob make it. I’d like to get out again before winter hits.

You’re right about recovery points... @RhodeIsland4bang you should def have recovery points as a starter. I think 2nd gens have a front recovery point from factory and you can get a receiver hitch recovery point for the rear of you need.

I ran it completely stock except for slightly larger tires and didn't have any issues.. Banged something on a rock but can't see where.. That trip made me want to buy sliders and skid plates first though.. Just for piece of mind. Depending on which trails we take, you wouldn't have any issues.. There are a few that we did this summer and I was banging my skids a decent amount.. Pick your line, and if you aren't comfortable or need help, ask someone to spot you.. One thing I learned is this group is super helpful and there is a ton of knowledge.. Ask questions, watch, and learn.. I am new to this but I've learned a lot..

It’s got a recovery point front, I’ll get a rear one for the hitch receiver, but it sounds like I’d be ok if I was careful, hopefully my wheelbase/265 tires/‘16 OR springs/leaf helpers will keep me off the ground (mostly stock I guess)

Y’all use cb radios on trail runs? I could pick up a handheld

You should be fine. Ask for help if you need a spot. CB will be what where using for comms. Buddy of mine has a handheld a midland 75-822 it works fine.
