Are they saying they won’t cover it under Toyota care anymore? I’d still take it in for the regular maintenance checkups, looks good on paper. But def bring it to a different dealer for that. That whole thread read like a money grabbing scheme by the dealer

They didn't say anything about toyota care, that's "paid for" already with the new truck for 2 years, that's not going anywhere. They did talk about how the frame might not qualify for warranty/some stuff might not qualify for warranty anymore, though, which is fine - and why I'd consider trading it in within 5 ish years anyway so that I don't have a 15 year old New England Tacoma frame :D

That LCA mount just looks like the bottom of it is bent. If you bring it somewhere and get it aligned, see if it will come in spec on caster/camber. If it does and the guy didn't have to max out the eccentrics then I'd say that's fine. I do find it odd that they say $4500 to repair the truck, but want to do a new frame. The cost of the frame under my regular cab 2nd gen was $6500 just for the frame in 2015

The 4500 was before they started talking a new frame today o_O

Yeah it's just the bottom of it. I don't even think the alignment is out, can definitely get it checked out but it drove fine for ~1 hour highway time home plus doesn't feel any different driving around town either. I'm thinking when I do front brakes I might try to rip it down and finesse it back out if its even affecting the alignment. I'll see if a shop can check my alignment sometime soon though. It's the tab underneath that looks like it took a smack, don't think it affected anything else.

:notsure: They seem fine, just slightly....dented. I'm still debating skids or jeep. It's a real conundrum.

Oh, yeah, no way in hell I'm going with insurance and going to total it out, that would be stupid. This doesn't stop the truck from trucking. It does highlight the needs for skids/lift or a trail beater

Right, but the alignment would more or less tell you for sure if its bent bent or just the bottom got pushed over. Im pretty sure I hit mine before

Insurance companies are a joke. I get mouse damaged wiring all the time. I could fix the wire in an hour but insurance pays to replace the entire harness. Had a 19 Camry totaled out because it needed a hybrid battery due to chewed wires. $4-5000 repair, instead totaled a $35000 car.
From the pictures it looks like the lower control arm mount would be the only thing that needs to be straightened out. If the trans cross member was actually bent, which I’d be surprised, it’s replaceable separate.
You also managed to cause more undercarriage damage than I have in a couple years of hard wheeling multiple rigs. Need to stay off the throttle, it’s a new Tacoma not a rock bouncer

yeah that’s what I’m thinking on it too. Sure it’d be nice to total and get a new one but shit....why? Plus I’d have an at fault total on my record plus the added cost of taxes and whatnot of buying a new one anyway. Nah.

the LCA mount was hit in the front and bent. I am going to bring it to a wheel/tire shop and have them do an alignment check. Otherwise should be all set. The squeak did come back in the front right wheel so i will have to get it up in the air and rip that apart to find the culprit. I suspect rock wedged somewhere good (well, not good but a good wedge)

trans cross member was hit underneath but didn’t actually move on the top. No problems there.

and I’m not saying I have no idea how this happened. Definitely my dumb ass fault for hammering it like I did. First time our wheeling was super nervous and cautious, no damages like this at all, etc etc. as I kept going though I had more faith and less hesitation and that just kept building. So. Here we are....definitely my fault and I’m owning that. If I want to continue, get some better armor and skids, or as I’ve been thinking for as much as I’d pay for that, I could just get a junkier Jeep or samurai or something for a few years and beat the living piss out of it in the woods. Anything under 2k I don’t even have to pay excise tax on in my town. And then come home to get to work on Monday in a non trail trashed vehicle. Skids and bumpers for a Tacoma are like 3k combined shipped and painted so....my Jeep budget is 3k aim under 2k :p and I was already considering this not being a 20 year truck and trading it in for a 4 banger in 5 ish years anyway. Will probably definitely do that now o_O

Pretty sure I tanked my right front bearing when I was out there, think that's where my noises are coming from currently. Toyota will be looking at it tomorrow after they cross threaded 3 of my lugs, maybe a rock will fall out then, otherwise looks like I might be spending a morning ripping apart my front right!

It's pretty common for a small rock to get stuck inbetween the brake rotor and backing plate. Have them check, with the wheel off you should just be able to pull the rock out if that's the case.

Also, if it really is the bearing just get a whole new hub from one of the vendors on here. Pretty easy to replace yourself, especially on a newish vehicle. Only difficult part is removing the 32mm IIRC axle nut. You need a huge breaker bar, or a decent impact to zip it off. Otherwise there's only 4 bolts holding the hub assembly onto the spindle. Normal box wrenches are all you need at that point.

Yeah there was definitely a rock in there at first, the noises were rough, but now the noise not sure if that's a rock or not. But heck, they have to take off the rotor to get a new stud in there anyway so it might just fall out at that point, I'll wait until after service tomorrow and see if I need to get into it more.
