Welcome and congrats. Being in Southern RI I recommend getting a beach barrier pass if you like the beach. It will give you access to East Beach in Charlestown, and other places. You can drive right out on the beach in the off-season and on the trails during the summer. The water there isn't the best for swimming, rough tides, but does give a great spot just to throw together a beach day to enjoy the sand/sun.

I'm sure you already have carseats, but with space inside the truck being tight I can't recommend Diono enough. I have a 5 and 3 and they fit great and give some space for a small mother-in-law to fit in between "comfortably." Its not an infant seat though. I'd also recommend a rubber bed mat from Toyota, its around $80-$100 if you find the right deal. For bed cover I just have a "Gator" brand from Amazon, it does the job and I've had it for 2 years w/o issues.

You might want to think about a softopper with a mesh screen for the dog too. That way you can bring your dog with the rest of the family.

Typically it will just the dog and myself or my oldest and myself. The wife isn't a fan of sleeping outdoors

We found that large storage totes work great for storage for over landing, that will save your budget for some bed bars and an RTT.

Welcome. Despite what you see on the gram and internets you really don't need to build a tacoma for overlunding. Really better tires are pretty much it. That being said, i've been known to happily spend money on mods I don't really need. I'd get a cap vs. a Tonneau cover. Much more verstile and you can sleep back there in a pinch.

Would anyone in the Brattleboro area be up for some offroading? My girlfriend's mom just got a place up there and I know no one and no spots yet!

There is an old quarry about an hour from Brattleboro. Been thinking a winter trip might be fun.

This is very true. I run stock with upgraded tires. Never had an issue going off pavement. I don't do a lot of "technical" off roading, but I can keep up with modded jeeps as long as I pick my lines right, and stay humble enough to use the by pass when the real rock crawling starts. So for overlanding invest in a comfortable sleeping set up, before tricking out the truck.

Same! I was just talking about this the other day with my girlfriend, I want to do Sucker Pond again! Maybe with fewer people though...We did what, 10 miles in 8 hours?

And now @Thezinz won't show up on highway tires!

By the way I really liked your 360 degree videos of that! That thing was so cool

The next time I go there, I was thinking 5 trucks max, and maybe go in reverse from the way we went. If any stock trucks come, just know what you're in for. The whole run should be able to be done in about 4-5 hours without the "stop-go-stop-go".

Dorset is pretty neat. Any totally accessible to a stock truck.

Its a cave/ old quarry. Pretty cool to explore around in. The drive up is pretty short, maybe 15 minutes. But you do (or should) be in 4-lo to get up there cause it's very mild rock crawling. Nothing a stock truck can't handle.
