The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
    "Yahoos" AKA people, ruin everything.

I'd be in for this trip if it wasn't peak hunting season. Seems all the fun stuff happens all at once in the fall.

Gates have been open since a week after they were installed. Our club has had meetings with the state and are actively working to keep it open. Right now the biggest thing is staying on the main trail. All of the go arounds are illegal and their biggest complaint at the moment is trespassing.
Depending on what other stuff I have going on I may come down for a Mabell run.

For the size and length that it is, it might not be worth your time to drive over from NY. It is a playground of Medium to Hard stuff but not that long.

Really? Never saw anything on FB about it, just when the gates went up. I knew the go arounds were illegal to take, i stay on the main trail and nornally take some damage with the step ups, normally just the first one

Agree with care about broadcasting locations, of course. I’ve been doing this since 1999. Or at least from 99-2012, and then the last 4 months. Great to be back in the off-road world. Count me in!

Appears that both incidents were perpetrated by people breaking many of the basic rules of four wheeling. Primarily, be thoughtful and responsible.

    Never drive drunk.
Don’t drive on private property without permission.
Always wear your seat belt at all times. And keep hands and feet inside!
Don’t do technically difficult off-roading after dark (ok, unless you’re trained and prepared for it)

I stopped by there today. Definitely some new gates, but still a couple ways in. Luckily my first attempt was closed because I would have had to cross a massive puddle.

We've crossed that puddle before, but I would not do it without backup nearby.

It's the worst I've seen it in some time. It's usually only to the right of the rocks, which are also new for me.

There was never an official announcement but was replied to by a few people when people asked. This is the most informative response so far. Nothing has really changed over the past few months. Hopefully we can work to keep the gates open.

“After the meeting today we (Mohawk 4x4 Adventures) can post more updates over the next few days, weeks and months.

    I can say this:
Not one of us attending the meeting can keep the road open, but one can close the gates and lock them without further input.

Our meeting is not a conflict, we all want the same thing - continued recreational access.

We have a mission that I believe works on many protected 4x4 routes across the country.
    Managed access is Respected access.
    Respected access is Sustainable access.

The real question is how to accomplish it.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE TRAIL WITHOUT LICENSE PLATES.
Plates are required, it is a road.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS TRAIL WITHOUT A MA OHV REGISTRATION AND PERMIT.
This is required for recreational use on any surface in the state, public or private, that is not maintained for safe use by the public and for the public.
The MA OHV Registration program puts 25% of Registration fees into a fund for land use.

I fully expect, if not in 2021, but 2022, we will be pulling money from this fund to Unfuck Old Florida Rd.

The corridor needs drainage, water bars and more.

The land around the corridor needs a lot of protection from erosion, mostly due to trespassing.

If you use the trail corridor -
PLEASE COLLECT ALL TRASH YOU SEE. BAG IT UP. USE THE BLUE DUMPSTER BEHIND THE DCR RANGER STATION. TAKE PUCTURES. SEND ME YOUR PICTURES.”

How do you get a MA OHV tag for an out of state or street vehicle?

I thought OHV permits in MA were only for ATVs and dirt bikes

I believe you need one to wheel at Harris Mtn. regardless of what you’re driving. That’s what I’ve heard, could be misinformed though. Somebody mentioned adding a second location to the mabell run, the only thing that comes to mind is a spot in enfield that I have heard of. Basically a bombed out legal dirt road, can’t remember the name of it or speak to it’s conditions

Alright, so far I’ve been in touch with @SamSpade and @Roody about MA Bell on the 14th. Plan is to be at the trailhead for 10:30. Sounds like they’ll be coming from down in southern CT and meeting me in Wallingford on the way up, planning to meet in the plaza next to wallingford Toyota around 9. Anyone else local or driving by is more than welcome to meet us there and caravan up together. We should get an official roll call probably by Friday the 12th or so. I have a friend possibly joining in his 4th gen 4Runner as well.
