No, I’ve done this hill in wetter conditions and made it just fine, it was the layer of frozen ground just below the slop that was the culprit, super slick, didn’t make it up the hill this time. Instead we did the trail in reverse and came down the steep section, which came with its own set of challenges lol.
It’s sad that I still have the ARB skid on the rig. This will definitely motivate me to design and build one for the GX ASAP. It sucks when another guy has a custom built skid I made but on my own rig I have a flimsy ass piece of metal leftover form the PO.

You can see just how slick this hill was. Watch the front tires, they are locked, sliding like ski's for a good 35'. Thankfully the ruts guided the trucks down and away from trees. This is the same spot Joel had to winch out of trying to go up.

That hill was slick as hell. Like Joel said, 6” of slop to gum the tires up and then you were down to frost.

This Sunday is Easter, I got kids but Monday is a holiday and I'm off or the following Sunday the 24th. After that I'm good anytime other than the first Sat in May.

    Shenanigans!

Haven't picked a day yet but that's a point. Know you said something about being at or helping Marathon Monday. Hopefully you can come when we get a date in stone.

I still got an email notification setup :D

My plans for this summer are pretty jammed up already. @BadDNA has a pretty badass trip set up for the last week of July up to the Maine woods, and I am looking to get a small group up to Dorset Caves in I think August. I’ll have to look at my calendar again, let me know if you’re interested in the caves and I can get you more details.

Otherwise, at least my end, I have a ton of day trips here and there, not a ton of wheeling this year :(

Groups go out to MA Bell and Old Florida Road a lot. RI Spot might be burned, unknown.

Man I’d love to finally get out to the caves, still haven’t been.

Maine woods have been on my list also.

Finally got out this past weekend for some exploring around VT and forgot that all the forest roads don’t open up until May 1. Missed it by a week. It’s a good thing though, keeps the roads healthy. I must have at least 100 pins on google maps for roads I want to check out. Going to be a good summer!

I thought the town and locals had shut Dorset down?

It’s back open! Some 4x4 club I THINK took it under their wing!

The trips in August so I have time to see if we need to coordinate with them to go, or if it’s wide open.

I say “it’s open”, I don’t know a lot yet, and it might be closed right now just because mud season.

Heard people been out to the ri spot during the day only with no issues. Met a guy who said his off road club patrols old Florida road???? Not sure what that means.

I had not heard that. Was it @thepinktaco who was somewhat involved in early talks with the town? Could be remembering wrong, but I thought we had a member on here who was involved and would know.
