Holy hell....so glad you're ok OP.

If a 5 lug with a trailer could take that kind of beating, I wonder how my truck with my sliders and steel bumpers would take it. Although, your truck is much lighter. I wonder if that anything to do with how well it took the hits.

Nice to see that you were able to come here and post about it. Yes, that truck saved your life and of the accidents that happen with our trucks, I can see that a lot of us ended up in pretty good shape.

No, I won't sell my truck. Thanks for sharing. So glad you are alive. :)

For all you guys that think towing big 5,000# trailers is a good ideal read this. That was a light trailer.

Our little 5 lugs and other stock trucks crumple up and absorb the impact, maintaining the cabin.
Your caged offroader will remain solid and all of the impact will be transmitted to you and the seatbelt.

    Amen to that.

Tundra used to have a 6k max, and the only toy haulers available under that were the lightweight Carson "Funrunner" type that would not hold up to taking a fire road to camp.

A few guys on Tundrasolutions swore that they towed their 8k haulers "just fine"... thankfully none ever wrecked.
Honestly, I could "feel" a 3-rail dirtbike trailer with 2 YZ250s on it.

What's legal at 3am and what's legal at 5pm are two totally different things.

Glad you're okay OP, remarkably little damage for the accident described.

Ya... Duallys are pretty badass, but even they cap out below 26,000 GCVWR. The Ram 3500 max towing capacity is a little over 16k.
