Saw a post on another site showing the wide pocket style fender flares, clicked through to see if I could find the brand.

From the steep angle of the original picture I saw I thought it was a 2nd gen Tacoma, ended up being a Hilux, still a cool article.

I really dig the Hilux nose, but think we got the better ass.

Just wanted to share my pain of not having the D4-D engine option here. :D

Would love this in America. At least a factory diesel option would be lovely. That truck looks great too.

I can swap you a d4d in. It aint gonna be cheap but I have done two swaps so far, both still rolling. Swapped a 2.8td into a 93 toyota, and a 93 suzu 3.1td into a 98 isuzu pickup.

Yes, just due to the sound alone. Every Aussie rig on Youtube sounds better than most full sized diesel trucks here in the states, imo

Yeah that's like a 4.7l V8 twin turbo diesel. Can't member the designation. Sick engine though.

Well, i'm living in Norway and own a Hilux, and wish i had a Tacoma (It is possible to import one, but taxes,import-, VAT-fee....the price would be insane!).
My Hilux build is very much inspired by many of you here on Tacomaworld so thats as close as i get to owning a Tacoma :)

So we all want what we can’t have. I least we all suffer the same in that respect. Norway is on my list of places to visit in my life, maybe I can rent a Hilux while I’m there!

    Hi Guys,

Just found the post on all things Hilux from Australia. As an owner of the "Lux" community, it is fair to say that Hiluxs, along with the trusty Landcruiser, are very much a part of Aussie life. Sure, there are many other brands and models of utes (pick ups) here, though Toyotas have had a solid reputation for well over 40 years in this country.

Unfortunately, the Tacos are less known by owners over here, though in having looked into Tacomas over the last year or so I am definitely a fan. Especially of the pre runners.

Our diesel Hilux variants are all 3ltr factory turbo and have been for quite some time. And the 79 series Landcruiser tray back is standard with the V8 diesel turbo & 5 spd, no Auto option. A very popular vehicle and almost all are enhanced with performance modifications, as there is an abundance of aftermarket options for Cruisers over here. Not uncommon to hear one roar past with a full 3in exhaust, or up to 4in for the big tunes.

Good to see that Tacomaworld is global fellas.

    Cheers,
    Nathan:)

It’s a rip that Toyota has saddled us with the Tacoma as the hilux is a better truck in all respects.

As i have come to read somewhere(have no clue where tho), the next Tacoma and Hilux will share the same platform and look? As in it will be the same vehicle sold world wide? Anyone else heard similar?
