    Hello!

I am moving to Scotland and taking my tacoma with me (duh).

One of the mods I have to do is to add a rear fog light that is switch operated so it’s not on all the time. Has anyone ever done this?

    Thanks in advance!

I imagine this to be a simple project. Find fog light wire, tap into it and run wire from it to the rear fog lamp.

Would love to see future pics of Tacoma at Loch Ness!

    Welcome to TW.
Adding a light that's switched is easy enough to do.
When is this light required to be used?
Are there wattage requirements for the light?
And not to rain on your parade with talking the taco with you, but have you considered parts availability in Scotland?
As for wiring the light, there are a couple different ways to do it, depending upon the size of the light used and the overall aesthetics inside the cab with the switch.
If you don't care about the aesthetics, you can pick up a toggle switch and wire the light through that. Mounting it wherever you like.
If you want to use a matching type switch to what is in the truck already, I would suggest using this switch to turn on a relay that will feed power to the light. These switches, generally have a current rating lower than what a toggle switch has.
Give me a few minutes and I'll post wiring diagrams.

Ok, wherever you get 12v to feed things always install a fuse as close as practical.
Rule of thumb, every 120 watts is about 10 amps at 12 volts. The electrical system tends to run slightly higher voltage, so slightly less current. I use 12 v to make the math easier.
If you go with the relay option, be sure you plug the add a fuse in with the proper polarity. I had one in backwards feeding a charging port. Blew a fuse and the wipers, (chosen location to grab power) would turn on if the charger was plugged in!
    Good luck.
Edit: that fuse drawn on the bottom of the ladder diagram IS the add a fuse.

Additional things to keep in mind is road size overseas. I've been to a few places where my standard double cab would be considered a monster truck. Parking your tacoma might also be a challange. I'm not saying that it cant be done, it's just going to take some work. There's a reason why a lot of euro vehicles are tiny/compact. Good luck and enjoy your stay in Scottsburg! Slangevar!

I’ll be in rural Edinburgh and my truck is actually smaller than my fiancées transit van... so should be fine...mine is an access cab with a full bed but it’s still smaller than most...I call it my little bonsai-truck...:)
