Off topic question for you. When I bought my truck they did 2 credit checks. One from the dealership and one for TFS. My credit score dropped almost 90 points. Could they not have just done one check between them?

Did the 2 credit checks come out of the same dealership(dealer to TFS I mean) on the same day?

Typically you will see a dip in score on the 1st check, however your credit should not be dropped by the second one within a reasonable amount of time. The credit agencies can tell that you are in the market for a vehicle when there are multiple locations pulling the same customers info and generally wont hit you too hard on the pulls after the initial pull.
This is a case by case issue though and it can depend on how often you are financing on purchases throughout the year.

BUT 90 points is a pretty steep hit... did it go back up a few months after you purchased your vehicle?

It is slowly creeping back up. A couple of points per month. Thank you for the response.
OP I apologize for the interruption. My bad.

Come on guys. Stay on topic. Do Koreans make crap or not? I almost formed an opinion based on the good points being made back and forth.

Meanwhile, OP bought his wife a new Chevy to avoid all this banter.

My wife’s 2013 Sonata was a great car. Sure it cost less but didn’t Toyota/Honda also sell their cars under the market average when they were just coming into the mainstream? When my wife first bought the car she had just moved in with me as my fiancé and she commuted 60 miles a day 5 times a well with it for over 2 years without a single issue. Wait, one issue, she knocked the grate off the HVAC intake once and didn’t think it was a big deal until a mouse made a home in the filter, but that can happen on any car lol. We only traded the car off because we started having kids and needed something a bit bigger with AWD.

In fact if I needed to buy a commuter car for myself soon, which I might if I get moved into the office, I’d buy a Stinger. I don’t care about the badge if the value is there.

I dont think a conclusive answer can be reached in a forum. Again I still say its a matter of opinion based on experience. Buy what you want not what others tell you that you should want. Regardless of make and model you still risk breaking down, recalls, lemons ect. At the end of the day its just a peice of machinery and it is has human beings involved in the process. Doesnt really matter if your shirt says Toyota or Kia. Human beings are not perfect and will f&*k up something with 100% certainty.

Of all options that you listed, I'd go with a Camry. Also I'm sure they will come off the MSRP because sedans are not selling very well. Find out how many are on the lots of all the dealerships around you and go to the one's that have the most on hand.

For example if there's a dealership with 95 Camrys sitting on the lot, that dealership should bend over backwards to sell one. It's a solid choice to go with the Camry.

If nothing else...I think we can all agree that the gap in quality between Honda/Toyota and Kia/Hyundai is closing.

I would like to see a 10 year history on sedan sales. It has to be tanking pretty bad. Guess I need to use my google function now.

It is. Ford is selling more units of that new EcoSport than they did of the Focus and Fiesta combined even though it’s made in India. It shows you what the market wants, CUVs.

Funny that it is trending back this way.. back in 2008 everyone was ditching suvs for hybrids and sedans/cuvs. Fear runs the markets
