I need some help finding a new bumper for my first Gen, want to do something more rugged than the stock one that has rusted out but don't want to spend upwards of 1K for an ARB. Would be open to a used option if it was in good condition. Would love to add some additional lighting as well, any ideas?

Will def keep this in mind if I go the stock route, this is a second vehicle that basically goes to the dump and home depot besides a camping trip or two a year so trying to keep it on the affordable side.

All first gen bumpers are "airbag compliant" since the bumper doesn't have any sensors or any other hardware related to airbags anyway.

ARB just filed the paperwork and paid their fees to have the certificate.

I agree that there are a lot of great looking aftermarket bumpers out there but I’d rather have an arb in an accident. I would imagine you’d be more likely to be in legal trouble if you’re using a bumper that isn’t recognized as being “safe” and “compliant” like the ARB. I Also believe that the ARB will fair exceptionally well in an animal impact. That’s really what they were designed for anyway. Having said all this, I’m still running the stock bumper lol.

I've never heard of an instance where an insurance company denies a claim or makes your life hell because of an aftermarket bumper. Not saying it can't happen, I just don't think it's something people really need to worry about.

If there were an accident with a death involved, and your bumper was THE thing that caused the incident, sure, you'd be in trouble, but I can't imagine a single incident where that'd be the case.

A friend from work was just saying that he did all this work to his truck (bumpers, skids, sliders, tires, etc...) and he called up Geico and they said not to worry about it and they'd cover him no matter what. He seemed to get the idea of "don't ask, don't tell" but that seemed like more of a reason that they could use to jack up your rates for no good reason. It's not like they'd kick you off their policy.

I've wondered why we've never heard of a story where an insurance company claims "unnecessary" or added damage to a client's vehicle due to the other party having an aftermarket steel bumper. I guess since it's not against the law to install one, it's not something they can use against you?

Like say for instance someone backs into my truck while it's parked and damages their bumper by hitting my steel front bumper. They are 100% at fault, but given how slimy insurance companies can be I'm surprised you don't hear about them trying to put some blame on the other party for having aftermarket components that might amplify damage.

Not saying I want this to happen lol, just curious why it doesn't really.
