I just put on a 3" OME lift and new wheels on my 2003 Double Cab in mid July. I am wanting my tires to either actually be a little wider, or stick out of the fenders a little more to give my truck a little wider stance.
My wheels are ATX AX324 Assault Black w/ Mach Lip; 17x8, +12mm offset, 4.92" backspacing. I currently have 265/70R17 on.
I want to put on 285/70r17... Will I have any rubbing? Worried about the UCAs mainly. Also do you think my tires will stick out enough (wanting about 0.75-1")? Wheel spacers?

Anyone with a similar set up, please post pictures!

You shoulda gotten wheels with smaller backspacing. I wouldn't recommend wheel spacers...

I have been reading a lot about wheel spacers and I don't think I'm going to get some. Do you know what backspacing & offset to get if you want them to stick out a little?

i havent heard of anyone having an issue with wheel spacers/adapters under 2" on a tacoma. The 1.25" spidertrax spacers seem to be the most popular and is what i would go with.

So will around 4.5 backspacing make them stick out an inch or so? Or do I need to account for the offset of the rim also?
I don't really understand the whole backspacing/offset thing...

If you are wanting 285s I believe you will need at least 4 bs if I'm not mistaken

Cool. Seen so many Tacomas with a little more tire profile showing. They have a good stance that way I think. So they must have rims with less than 4.6" backspacing then! Now let's see if I can commit any of this to memory. lol

If you're a 2nd gen, i think I remember seeing that they have 5 or so bs.

So what I got from the diagram is that offset will push the rim in or out further in the wheel well... sticking the wheels out a little from the fender
Negative offset, the mounting surface of the rim is further out (to the shocks/body/ect.)
Positive offset, the mounting surface of the rim is closer in (to the shocks/body/ect.)

And backspacing is more for clearing the UCAs???

I wouldn't be discouraged about wheel spacers just because internet warriors give their opinion. I love my stance.
I wheel my truck and have been running 1.5" synergy spacers for miles, no issues. As long as they're hub centric and I wouldn't recommend anything past 1.5"

I love the idea of the wider stance. However, my Michelin LTX M/S 2's throw rocks like crazy. I can drive two feet on gravel and the tread is full of pea sized gravel. I'd be worried about scratching the crap out of my paint job! Afraid to take off my mud flaps for this reason!

I somewhat trust them, my uncle has a dodge dually. 2" spacers and was in a wreck. 16k in damage from hitting the dually fender. Bent rim, popped tire. Broke leaf springs. Had to rebuild trans. Spacer was reinstalled after it was fixed
