The auto is great if you like driving an automatic. I however have ADHD, and need to be occupied at all times.

I am considering a manual Subaru, Civic Type R or manual 1st gen or manual 3rd gen.

My taco is worth 30.5k according to Carmax. I’m at the point where cost doesn’t matter but the driving experience does.

I am SO BORED driving an auto and need something to do.

Can I get some help here guys? Zero kids, zero friends, one girlfriend and one dog with hobbies including eating, dirt bikes and traveling to my gf who lives 100 miles away

    My 3 cents:

1st. Like the little info paper hanging on the edge of the glove box. Keeping it like new? I tried to keep it until my wife pulled it and dumped it.

2nd. Beautiful dog. Waiting on mi kid to grow up enough so he takes care of the German Shepherd puppy I’m going to give him (he is 1YO so no dogs near future)

3rd. Had 3rd gen 4cyl auto... loves my truck, hated tranny... now trd off road 6mt love my truck love my tranny... it is NOT a refined tranny but I like it. It is a truck tranny... love to change gears... My son WILL LEARN TO DRIVE STICK with this truck... that’s how in I am...

Trade it. Don’t know what happens tomorrow. Every time I jump in the truck now I’m like little kid with new toy.

Other than the transmission, do you like your Tacoma? If the answer is yes, then get the same thing but with a manual transmission. If the answer is no, then try something else.

Put that sucker in S5, ETC on and blast right on over to the dealership and trade it in for a manual. Some say it’s unrefined, but I quite like it. Even coming from BMW’s, I think the manual 6-sp shifts great.

It takes me back to playing arcade games. Who else always used the manual mode on Crusin USA?

If you get a car, check out the Golf R 6MT. Way more refined than the other two you listed.

Good luck finding a decent, reasonably priced manual first gen.

I'd look for a 2017 MT. None of the newer tech and save you some cash.. or go all in on a 2020.

    The one I’m considering is a 2003 4x4 xtracab v6 with 77,000 miles for $12,500.

I don’t even know why I say considering. If it’s still for sale tomorrow I’ll likely buy if

I got my self the 2017 DCSB MT really enjoy it. buddy of mine has the auto and I believe the manual out preforms and is a better driving experience if you can do stick. Clutch is short on the 3rd gen and can be kinda jumpy when your not use to it, but I came from 2nd gen runner and I had to push all the way to the floor

Do you really need at truck? I had a manual Subaru Forester before my Taco and it was 100% more enjoyable to drive on a daily basis. Those things can go just about anywhere, good gas mileage, and lots of storage/utility. Used prices are much more reasonable than Tacomas too.

Always manual mode. This game swallowed all my quarters to blow off steam at school:

Yes, you are bored and the drive life you want is getting away from you. make your move now. or at least get in line for the next wave of MT allocations. if serious and can afford to change, don't wait. MT with OVT is the most fun i've ever had in a vehicle and i've been driving since the 80's. i dropped all road cars for the truck and i'm having way more fun than any sports MT i've had. but that was my mission.

I rented a civic type R on turo for a day and that thing is an absolute blast to drive. If you don't need a truck definitely take one on a test drive

2017 Manny, awesome to drive and I learned to blip the throttle while downshifting in this truck, very fun driving experience. Only downside for me is a wife who doesn't drive stick which presents the occasional logistical annoyance.

    ^^^ This is true.

Most any MT car that is around these days will get you into ticket problems by the time you are out of 2nd gear. The lower limits on the Taco make it more fun to just enjoy and goof around with while not risking the license.

There are some small issues with the MT Taco though. Easy fixes like OVT, the accumulator delete (ADM), and the 2Lo Mod (2LM) make it a shear joy.
