It's easy to do man. I ordered parts for a computer I was building, got the boxes open, everything laid out ready to go and realized I didn't have a damn processor.

You are probably right on the motherboard audio - it's been a couple years since I've built a PC for gaming.

I'd agree with most of the rest, but another vote for Laptop. I have a gaming laptop that I bought with a 32" external monitor that I have mounted on my wall, and I have my laptop hooked up to it via HDMI, and bought an external mouse and keyboard. Check out:

    www.newegg.com
    www.tigerdirect.com
    www.xoticpc.com

hope that helps. Try to get an MSI or ASUS.

x2 on Asus if you get a laptop, or hell even for your pc components. I have several Asus parts in my desktop, all work awesome, and my lappy is a Asus, which hasn't had a single issue in my several years of abusing it.

True. But a lot of onboard sound sucks. IF you're just playing games through some computer speakers or headphones, it's usually just fine. But if you want really great sound, check out the Asus Xonar DX sound card. HUGE upgrade compared to onboard sound.

even my "cheap" asrock motherboard has been awesome so far. I love the bios on it, so easy to use.

You really don't need more than 8 gigs of ram, but I just saw 24 gigs for 199 at micro center.

Plus building your own opens up the world of "overclocking". I'm still running an "outdated" q6600 @ 3.6 and just plan on updating the video card in the near future. Yeah, it may not be as fast as the brand new cores but overclocking helps me extended my use with a certain chip until the newer models drop in $.

For gaming that is ridiculous, but that is a good deal.

We're running 32GB in five of our servers in our Data Center - they're all running ESXi, so we needed to be able to have at least 2GB per VM running on it.
