Are you eligable for an upgrade? You can keep your unlimited data if you buy from verizon last time i checked. And if you have an upgrade then that will be your best option, just gatta sign another 2 year contract

I haven't checked prices on ebay but with the S4 coming soon you might find some good deals on an S3. It's a great phone and holds its own with pretty much everything out there right now.

I think they were slowly phasing out unlimited data for those who had it and obviously don't offer it for new customers. Not sure how long they plan on grandfathering the current unlimited people. I used an upgrade in January 2012 and was still able to keep mine. Have since bought a used iphone5 and am using that now.

Yep. The only way you can keep your unlimited plan is to buy your own phone (no subsidized phones).

no Problem i think u have to have a basic phone on you're plan for them to trick the system into keeping the unlimited.

If you mean outside of a plan, I wouldn't pay more than the price of a plan phone plus the early termination fee. For example, on AT&T, the early termination fee on a S3 is $325 and $99 for the phone under a plan (I would expect that to drop to $49). That would make the max I would pay for a NEW phone $375-$425. For a used phone, I would base it on the early termination fee plus maybe a refurbished phone plan price ($29 on AT&T).

Did you research how much data you're actually using?

We just got iphone 5's this past December. We both had unlimited plans and were disappointed about loosing them. However, the Verizon Tech told us that 'on average' we were only using around 1GB per month each phone and the highest ever usage (in 4 years) was only 1.2GB.

The standard plan allows for up to 2GB per phone per month. We'll never go near that for what we use.

Although, we do not have the unlimited plan....our usage history states we'll never come close to that each month.

(late response, I realize this...but perhaps it might interest someone)

I was told the same thing, once or twice over the 5 years or so I've had AT&T I went past 2 gigs, but I like paying the extra $5 month knowing they don't want me to have it.
