I have a black, 07 TRD sport and the rear bumper has been hit a couple times and it will be cheaper to replace it vs fixing it. It would be easiest to find a painted black one but primered is also an option. I'm curious about the ones on ebay and stuff but I'm cautious that they might be as thick as sheet metal.
Also, is the bumper cover for 2nd gens the same for 2WD and 4WD? Does the hitch change anything?

All bumpers should be the same. Find one that was taken off for an aftermarket, should be able to find it cheap enough. Where are you located? I know of more than 1 available in Tx.

The Body Armor rear bumper is fairly cheap. I don't know what your budget it, but it may be an option.

You can get lucky and find someone taking their bumper off when replacing for an aftermarket. Both my friend and I installed our high clearance bumpers together, and we both just threw away our stock bumpers and hitches. We didn't want to go through the effort of attempting to sell them.

I look on places like here or ebay but i almost never find parts taken off junked tacomas. Doesn't toyota buy up most of those trucks so they don't end up in scrap yards?

    stock (for now)
If you wanted you probably could put a chrome bumper on there probably be easier and cheaper to find. As far as eBay bumpers being thin as sheet metal if I’m not mistaken the oem bumpers are for the most part plastic lol.

No clue about scrap yards. I said find one that was replaced with an aftermarket bumper. Plenty of people on here have replaced theirs with a steel bumper and many have them just laying around collecting dust. You could try asking in your local threads(no clue what local is for you).

Hes got a 2nd gen which do have a pretty solid bumper unlike the plastic ones that come on our 3rd gens.

I just took mine off to put on a high clearance. I live in Pennsylvania though and don’t know how to go about getting it to you. There is one small dent in the corner. I can get better pictures if interested.

You can find a primered bumper shell online for around 100 bucks. You'll reuse all the hardwear and plastic step pads from your current bumper.

I did that on my 2011 Taco and rattle canned it with paint match paint and it looked factory.

Yeah mine was black and I hit it with primer, color matched paint and clear coat it it looked great. I had to replace my bumper after I ran into a parking garage pillar and it was much cheaper than getting a whole new bumper.

It took me a half can of primer, two cans of paint match (the cans are small) and almost a can of clear coat. I ended up doing extremely thin coats. 3 coats of primer, 8 coats of paint match, and 5 coats of clear. Took pretty much all day.

I did this and didn’t even paint it. It came from eBay and looks fine on a black truck.

Really? I was wondering that, or even buying those ABS plastic covers for it so it matches the plastic step inserts but I'm leary to spend over $100 on plastic. Do you have any pictures of it?
