I'm a Kimber fan - just love the quality but you pay for it. My wife has decided she wants to get her PA LTCF and I'll probably get her a Solo 9 - assuming it fits her hand well.

I carry what is now the Kimber Ultra CDP II(LG) in .45 - the transitional model was the Ultra Carry II(LG) which is basically the same but both frame and slide are black. It's a feel thing for me but I have never been comfortable with the long pull triggers - hated when the Army went from the M1911A1s to the Beretta M9s.

It really is about what feels good to you and what trade-offs you are willing to make in terms of comfort, control, concealability and cost.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm gonna check out some Monday probably. If I can't find anything I want (cause I don't really "need" it) I have a Noveske N6 that needs an upper receiver, barrel, and bolt/carrier. And optics. Man those always put a dent in the bank. :(

I carried a MILSURPLUS vz.82 before I bought my Kimber - really reliable and fun. At under $300, it's a solid choice, especially given the availability of the ammo.

I had a Kahr CW40 (.40S&W) as my summer concealed carry weapon for a while, but I really didn't like the quality of its construction or the way it shot. I'm not a big fan or DAO triggers, and the polymer sub-compact frame made the weapon really light, but that meant that it also didn't really fit in my hand well and the recoil was really hard to control. Overall, I was dissatisfied enough to go in search of a replacement.

After a lot of looking around and researching, I ended up buying a Beretta PX4 Storm sub-compact in .40S&W. I really like this weapon; it was the solution to every problem I had with the Kahr - it has a double stacked magazine, so it fits well into the palm of my hand, the extra weight from the ammunition helps reduce the recoil of the .40S&W, it has a DA/SA trigger, and the quality of construction is superior. I have shot a few hundred rounds through it so far and still really enjoy shooting it. It is harder to conceal than the Kahr, as it is on the bigger side for a sub-compact, but I carry it in a Crossbreed SuperTuck holster, so I don't have any problems. I bought mine new at a gun show for $499.
