I've been watching this forum for a while, and could use some advice from you guys. I want to sell my Tacoma and get a new one, but I can't find anything like it out there to get a comparable. Any help would be appreciated! It's a:

    2003 Tacoma Xtracab
    3.4L V6, 4 speed automatic
    TRD Offroad package
    SR5 package
    Mystic Gold
    High 4 selector switch
    Convenience package
(power windows/door locks, keyless entry, cruise, slider w/privacy glass, etc.)
    Bucket Seats, carpet floor mats
    Class IV tow hitch
    Line-X bedliner

Here’s the unusual part – it has just under 18,000 miles. It’s in great shape. I also have a matching canopy (SnugTop) that I will probably sell with it. It’s located in Southern Oregon.

    Thanks for any help!

Reason for getting a new tacoma? You'll save a ton by keeping it.

If that was at a dealer they'd probably list it at $20k+ in portland.

I still love the truck - I'm just thinking I'd like to have a few more buttons, whistles, and bells, like the extra doors of the access cab, built-in NAV, climate control, etc. and pass this gem along to someone else. Thanks for the value. I really appreciate it!

I'd keep what you have. Smaller, better looking, more nimble.

At the rate of the little over 1k per year it has average, you've only got a couple hundred years of life with minimal service work left. :D

Just remember the new tacomas are quite a bit bigger. I thought about getting a new double Cab but ended up hunting down a 1st Gen double cab. I wasn't concern with features though.

You're both sure right about it being smaller - which I really like. You've hit on my one hesitation. And, yes, Bill, it will definitely outlive me! Food for thought. Thanks both!

One other thought. You mention creature comforts............

At the low miles you use the truck, how much creature comfort really matters? It's not exactly like you're in it going all the time, right?

Of those comforts, there are high odds that many of them can be successfully added with some quality aftermarket bits. For example, there are a couple of free standing GPS systems that are much better than factory Nav, you don't have to pay for updates, and you can use it in other vehicles. I take mine with me when flying to use in rental vehicles for example.

Heated seats, leather seating, inflatable seat bolsters and such are all available to retrofit as well.

You need to do what you need to do. But basically you have a 2 yo vehicle (mileage wise) with what sounds like maybe the cosmetic wear of a 4-5 year old, nicely kept vehicle.

For me, it wouldn't be worth 2x it's value to change to a new one. Ever.

Let's say you get a crazy number like a full $20k for that and put it towards a 2016 double cab TRD with a 6spd...that's $33.5k. $13.5k is a couple of great vacations :)

Bro your truck is worth like $18,000. In my opinion the only thing the second generation tacomas have on first are simply less wear. If you're comparing miles to miles gen 1 wins in nearly every category.

I do understand the need for a newer style though. You can certainly bling the shit out of your interior to be on par with and even exceed newer gen but that's usually a huge PITA and you typically spend quite a bit of time and money.

If you've even considered it at all it probably means you're ready to upgrade. That said, you've got quite a gem and could fetch a high price just don't expect it to sell for at least a few weeks.

Find someone from the forum local and ask if you can drive their truck around a bit to really be sure you want one. Good luck man!

If you feel inclined to upgrade your truck to a 2016 then do so! They are nice! On the other hand, you don't seem like your using your current truck much, hence the low miles. In that case, is it really worth it to put the money into a newer truck that you may not use??

I say it's only worth it if your going to spend a large portion of your time in the vehicle.

Also, I kind of envy you for having a low mile 1st gen. I love those things!!!
