Buy a Glock 19. Put a rail mounted light on it. Call it a day.

Oh, and Speer Gold Dot 147gr should do the trick.

Some how I always come back to the 19... It's on the list for sure, if anything it will be a second "cheaper" range gun.
Found a hk 45 used that looks to be in very good condition today for $700, range was too crowded today to put a box of shells through it but it did fell really good in my hand. Is 700 a fair price used? What should I look for before making a offer (after I shoot it)
    Thanks

HK aren't cheap that's for sure. Make them an offer.

I've heard some bad things about H&K's, along the lines of KB's, FTF's and poor finishes, of course you hear that about every gun though. Glock 19 is everything you need and nothing you dont. It's among the cheapest too. Countelss LEO's and private citizens rely on it. I favor Federal HST. Got some for my girlfriend's new Kel tec PF9 for $26 a box. But I can find it in 40 for $19 a box :notsure:. Very good stuff.

If you want the ultimate in HD, an AR 15 loaded with 55 grain M193 is the way to go. :crapstorm:

    Negative!

I JUST picked up a HK (my first) .40 (stainless slide) for 500 WITH 4 mags, 3 holsters and 100 rounds of ammo.

Haven't shot it yet, it does feel nice.

Looking to shoot it on tuesday I'll let you know what I think of it.

Also don't worry about the glock thing I own a few.

Love them, but they are not for everyone.

It's all on what YOU love to shoot.

This was my first choice for HD (and the bug out bag). Needed something my wife can pick up and use with no slides or safety when things get crazy. I've put over 5k downrange so far, damn accurate and manageable recoil with .357 magnums. Beautifully made (in the U.S.A.) and I would def recommend to anyone looking at a wheel gun.
Also, check out 5-Star Firearms for their CNC'd speed loaders too.

Also looking at getting a G19 but haven't completely decided yet because it will be my carry piece and it might be a bit large. I know they have the G26 but it seems really small and uncomfortable. Any advice?

The 26 won't be much easier to carry than the 19. Thickness is usually the deciding comforta factor, and there they're equal.

My 19 is a forever-gun because my wife bought it for me, but otherwise I would have sold it off by now. Dead reliable but it doesn't fit my hand. I'm much better with my 9mm XD. I've shaved the finger grooves off the 19 and flattened the backstrap but it's still not a good fit.

I really want to try the new single-stack XD45. Seems like a great G36 alternative.

Hello, with so many excellent choices is pistols out there today (even in California) I finally pulled the trigger today and decided the only way we could decide on a pistol for both of us was to buy a sig 226 in a 9mm and a sig 220 in 45! (well we are in Ca so we each bought one). Now I just have to weight 9 days and 16 hours and 37 min but who's counting?
Thanks again for all the advice think we shot just about every pistol the 3 ranges within 30 miles from our house had and both really liked the sig. I did decide at some point I need to add a glock 34 to the collection. In my (uneducated) opinion its a ugly gun but it was really fun to shoot and at 20 yards I shot a 10 inch group pretty consistently. No one at our local range believed it was possible to shot it better than the sig but after hanging out for a few clips they were impressed (well for a beginner that is). But I must admit in the end of the day the sig 220 just felt like a better gun in my hand and I am sure with time i'll get better with it.

I'll post a photo once they are free from gun jail.
    Thanks again!!

    nice guns OP!

i want to look at some to carry. got a year to look to in that time i should have one picked out to go buy. lol all i have shot is Glock .40 and the 357. full size. but may go with something smaller to carry and easier to hide.
