Longtime member since I got my truck in 2004. (No idea why I had to make a new account today. You guys have helped me throughout the years thank you). Anyway, the saddest day has come. I’ve been to three welding shops who have told me that my frame needs to be replaced and they can’t/won’t weld it. (Drivers side rear spring has become detached) Are there any 2000 prerunner, auto, 2.7, 2WD frames out there from dry climates? Please DM me if you know of an available frame.

This truck has been with me so long and it has so much more life left in it, I’m not ready to let it go. I have 180k on the clock, everything is well used but works fine. I’ve taken great care of the engine/trans and all maintenance consistently.

I did take it to the local Toyota dealer in 2014 to check for the frame corrosion recall and they said there was not enough corrosion at that time and logged the inspection. Wouldn’t you know it, after that year, the rust holes began. I’ve called toyota and opened a case, as well as emailed them within the past three months, and they assured me there is nothing they can do in regard to the frame recall since the deadline has passed. Please help find a frame, give me some advice, or be sad as this one goes to Tacoma heaven, it’s served me for so long and it has plenty of life left, minus the frame. Thank you for listening.

Have you looked at Saf-T-Caps? I installed these on my truck. The welding takes place *mostly* along the top edge of the frame which might be in good enough condition to weld to. You can get them with new spring perches already attached (which is what I did). Autorust.com

@Kwikvette says he knows of several in California people can not sell.

Shipping would be quite expensive .

I am thinking welding is not in your skill set so even if you want with the expensive safety caps youstill need someone to do the labor.

So many welding shops the insurance they carry does not allow working on vehicles without removing the fuel tank and other flammable material that would add hours of labor.

besides working under trucks is about the worst when much cleaner work can be found.
