Hey guys so I been a car guy my whole life I just moved into the truck world and bought a 6 speed 2015 Toyota Tacoma Sport double cab 4x4my truck.jpg . I really love it but I am ready to start making it look and sound amazing. One thing that I definitely need advice on is the lift. I live on Long Island and I go on the beach a lot so I would need a lift that would do good for that. I also am learning that most people do a 4 inch lift instead of 6 inch. I want to get some advice being that I am new to what you think I should do. How big of tires should I go and maybe what kind of lift and height. I want the truck to look big I always loved the trucks that were a struggle to climb into but I don't want a show car. I want to be able to get it off of the pavement from time to time. Thank you!

Very nice truck.. The possibilities are endless with it. What do you plan to do with it? Just a suggestion, go to the 2nd Gen section and you're going to get tons of advice and info.. Plus pics galore.. Good luck with your build.. Enjoy!

Nice looking truck, but I think this may be better suited for the second gen forum.

Congrats on the new truck. Beach driving shouldn't require much of a lift, just good tires and airing down for a wider foot print. That said 4-6" lifts on Tacomas are pretty extreme. Most people stick to 2-3" of lift, which is the max of the front IFS, which is enough to run 33s if you don't mind cutting your cab mounts and doing some welding to eliminate the rubbing issues.

The most headache free lift is going to be about 2", getting to 2.5" you will need new UCAs, which adds about $400+. Running 32s (265/70/R17s) will avoid any rubbing issues and minimize power loss from the larger tire. I went with a 2" lift up front and 1.5" rear with 32s to have superior handling characteristics and ride. Check out the Baja link in my sig for more info.

Hang out in the 2nd gen forum as the others mentioned for lots of lift traffic. Also if you have a specific lift you are considering, do a search for it. Chances are someone else has already done a writeup on it.
