Hi, I have a 2006 Tacoma Prerunner with a 3” spacer lift (I know, i know just couldn’t afford a real lift right now). I went some rims and tires in Marketplace. They are 20x9 +20 offset fuel lethals with 285/55r20 m/t Toyo Open County’s. I went to put them on today and noticed the tires touch the uca when I put them on to mount. Is it better to get new tires (if so what will look best and fit best) or will a wheelspacer from spidertrax (if so what size). Also the studs BARELY stick out the wheel what’s the best lug nuts to use. Thanks in advanced!!

You went the wrong way on your offset. You should have gone -20. The only way to fix it besides spindles or new rims is a spacer. With that tire I would do 1-1/4” Spidertrax.

As for the lug studs, the spacer will work fine with the stock mount/studs, and you may have to put longer studs on the spacers. That’s much less work than putting them on the truck.

Would any different tires fit better? When I took my tires to the tire shops to get them balanced. They told me they were “unbalancable” at multiple shops. Would this make the ride quality that bad?

You could go with skinnier tires and see if they clear the UCA. They might look a bit silly with the fenders sticking way further out than them though. Best bet would be to swap the wheels and get some with a zero or negative offset.

Were the tire shops just telling you the tires were yet to be balanced? If they aren't balanced, they'll burn through the tread faster and vibrate quite a bit.

Depending on how much rubbing is going on you might get by with 275/55/20’s, but they are only slightly less wide.

The 5 3/4” inch backspace is your issue. 5.5 is usually max on these trucks and that’s pushing it. 5 or less is where you need to be.
