Decided NOT to go with the 2020 Pro. Got convinced my 2017 Taco OR 4dr would suffice. So I’m fixing it up.
Suspension is my question. I do NOT need a lift for what I do but I would like nicer suspension. Was thinking about the Fox used on the Pro. I’m sure there a thread buried in here but please let me know what your thoughts are and if you have anything for sale.

What do you dislike about your current suspension? What are your goals for the new suspension?

Well the pro suspension is gonna give you a 1 inch lift over the OR.

You are right to want to upgrade your suspension from stock OR Billsteins if you do any amount of hauling or backroad travel. The stock shocks are tuned for an empty truck and don’t do particularly well at anything else. I would argue they are pretty vague even on road.

I am happily an “add-a-leaf and 5100s” man, but there are certainly valid choices above my pay grade.

Best bang for the buck would be Bilstein 6112’s and 5160 rears

And just set them at the stock height with 650# coils.

Should settle nicely and ride like a dream

The PRO is overrated and overpriced. Good choice on not going that route. Mat at OVTune Supposedly has some inside info said the 2023 Tacomas will come factory with turbo. :anonymous:

Your truck is 2 years old. You need to honestly ask yourself if its the truck or is it YOU? Do you want to upgrade the suspension because you need to or because you feel the need (obsession) to upgrade. Something to think about.

It’s too soft. I can’t believe how many times i bottom out on the backroads of Montana. And maybe I expect too much. I read an article that basically said if you could crawl over it with an SR5 at 5mph, you could take an OR at 25 and a Pro at 40mph with the Fox shocks. That’s the performance I’m looking for. I wouldn’t mind a natural 1 inch lift but I’m not looking to climb or go anywhere too dramatic. Just be able to ford anything in my way.

I like that. I always have something different than most people. You could always tell it way “my” truck. So some Baja lights, prinsu rack, Diamondback cover and I’m on my way. Performance wise I’m just looking for a little bit smoother ride cruising 45-50 down the backroads.

Then I’d have to cover that sweet leather with my Wet Okole neoprene seat-covers. I was gonna get the Pro but a comparison says I can do the same to mine for less and I would like a truck to customize again and call my own. This three year upgrade each time it leaving me bored.

Ok. The desert air intake is sexy but I can do that to mine.

You can get high end suspension without lifting it. That’s what I did. No CV/alignment/carrier bearing problems for this dude.

Ok, how rough are you back roads? Are they relatively smooth dirt roads? Are the semi-rough paved roads? Or are they out right hill climbing, mud/snow slingin, absolute shit roads? Here in northeast Ohio we get a shit ton of snow at times. Tacomas are known to eat that shit up like its nothing.

All of the above. Growing up in Michigan I know how your roads are. Lot more rocks out here though. Lots of hard pack with ruts and whoops. Pot holes in the dirt. I just think if what I read about the pro suspension is true I’d like that performance. It’s my daily driver but I do a lot of back country fly fishing and archery elk. Always beating myself up on the roads.
