I had a run in with a 4 legged mammal on the highway and caved in the front end. Truck was only 100k miles and had alot of sentimental value (grandfather owned it previous). I'm ready to take on the rebuild process and whatever costs and tribulations it entails (even if its totalled 3x over). But one aspect of repairs I have no experience with is frame damage. Does anyone know or have any experience on how to look for a bent or damaged frame, particularly on these 1st gen tacomas?

    Thanks in advance.

A frame shop would be your best bet but it may cost you for an opinion.

A Go no-go option would be a front end alignment shop, if it is out of alignment it is more than likely the frame. Probably cheaper too.

Your best bet would be a frame shop or body shop. A set up and measure is usually billed at 2.5 hours and the body shop rate in your neck of the woods is around $60ish per hour. So, for less than $200 you can have a professional measure it and tell you how much pull would be needed to straighten it if it is bent.
