So i bought a Xtang solid fold 2 for my wife’s new to her Tacoma doublecab 5” truck.

I quickly discovered that it leaks and is a “not thoroughly engineered cover” for this truck.

I was hoping to have a rain proof cover that could be folded back if needed and could withstand a child if it were to happen to go on top. I though the solid fold would be that unit but I’m finding that I’m having to do too much to get it to seal and am going through the warranty (and hopefully return) process with the unit. What do y’all recommend that may cover my needs and maybe is sub $1000?

I know this isn't really an answer to a hard top tonneau but I wish I went with a softopper, they are under your price range and you can collapse it when you need to haul bigger stuff in the bed. The rigid roll top covers take up too much room in the front on a 5' bed and the true solid ones limit you as well. I have an Access limited and have been happy with it. My Access is pretty rain proof, I didn't install the seal on the tailgate and I never had a problem, a little drip in there when it is out in a torrential down pour but overall I have been happy with it. it is a soft cover though.

Look at the BAK Industries family of covers. If You want a tri-fold theres actually 3 different options depending on the finish you want as well as engineering. Hit me with a pm and I can get you pricing details as well
