Trying to get this figured out. Correct me if I'm wrong...I want to get rid of my magnetic antenna mount...tired of the trees and branches hitting it.

I'm getting this for the mount...base...whatever...to put on my ARB.

Now I just need an antenna. Can anyone recommend one?

I was going to go with this one...but some of the FJ guys were saying theirs broke for whatever reason on the trails.

I currently have this unit...nothing extravagant...we just use on trails.

Just last month I went to Gigaparts and bought the Larsen NMOK adapter (SKU: ZLR-NMOK) and the Larsen NMO2/70B (SKU: ZLR-NMO2-70B) for about $100. Rather than bumper I put them on a driver side Relentless Fabrication hood bracket which puts the antenna about equal height to the passenger side stock radio antenna--maybe just an inch or so higher.

I'm a new ham so I'm not sure I know enough to glean the differences between the Larsen/Comet/Diamond but there can't be many differentiators in that ~$80 price range. Pick one and you'll probably be fine.
