I have a 00' taco with the 2.7 inline 4. I was curious if anybody has put a cold air intake on trucks similiar to this. if so, was the cost worth the gains? opinions on which brand to use and if I should go thru with it...thanks guys

most cold air intakes are really hot air intakes due to the positioning of the air filter in the engine bay. They look good although your will get no power gains from them.

just get a AFE filter and call it a day CAI are worthless unless you have some sort of air dam under or bhiend your front bumper to pull cold fresh air in but all that is a waste of money if you go wheelin

    This.

You already have a CAI. Like most modern vehicles (1990 and later?) it already draws cold air from the fender, or from a pickup in the radiator support.

There are things you can do to reduce restriction, but honestly, your 2.7 is not going to demand more air than the 4.0, and the 4.0 does just fine towing 5000lbs on the stock intake.

There is test data around that shows this helps performance.
Others should ask themselves how this mod would help. When it allows in "hot" air. The "cold air" mantra says it shouldn't.
Improving flow is the key. Relieving flow restrictions and pressure loss is more important that a few degrees of temperature.

Someone gave me neutral stuff(can't say the word) but no name so I just quote the post with it and say the opposite of what they wrote.
